fayetteville arkansas real estate: Want to join me in trying “haori”? - 06/17/11 12:27 AM
Isn't it interesting in what some words mean and then you can associate it with the item.  Anyway we are on a down slope from the National Spelling Bee list of words.  I remember having one a little longer and then I started gaining weight and have not been able to get another but I plan to soon enough.  The meaning of haroi is: is a hip- or thigh-length kimono-like jacket, which adds formality to an outfit. Haori were originally worn only by men, until it became a fashion for women in the Meiji period. They are now worn by both … (4 comments)

fayetteville arkansas real estate: Here comes “zwischenspiel” are you ready? - 06/15/11 11:11 PM

Here is another word in the continuing saga of the National Spelling Bee.  I can’t even pronounce it much less spell it.  Anyway it’s not in Webster’s© so I had to go online.  It’s a German name for intermezzo so today I’ll give you the meaning of (in’ termet’so) which means: a short, light dramatic, musical, or ballet entertainment between the acts of a play or opera.  Where do they come up with these words?

fayetteville arkansas real estate: Physiological exam - 06/15/11 12:57 AM

A lady goes to a scheduled exam and she talks for a solid hour.  The psychiatrist asks her to come back the next week and she did and for another hour she doesn’t stop talking.  On the next visit before she gets started the psychiatrist asks her to close her eyes and imagine going to the Grand Canyon and Niagara Falls.  Take into account all their wonder and realize there are more important things out in the world bigger than you are.
Don’t you wish some of your clients thought the same way as the psychiatrist did?  Wouldn’t it … (5 comments)

fayetteville arkansas real estate: Emergency Room - 06/14/11 12:49 AM

Emergency room

A doctor examining a woman who had been rushed to the Emergency Room, took the husband aside & said, 'I don't like the looks of your wife at all.'  'Me neither doc,' said the husband.  'But she's a great cook & really good with the kids.'  -------------------------------------------------------  The graveside service just barely finished, when there was a massive clap of thunder, followed by a tremendous bolt of lightning, accompanied by even more thunder rumbling in the distance. The little old man looked at the preacher & calmly said, 'Well . . . she's there.'

fayetteville arkansas real estate: The town of “Solferino” was a turning point in history. - 06/12/11 11:49 PM

So here is another one of those words in the National Spelling Bee that I promised.  Apparently this is what happened:
It is best known as being close to the site of the Battle of Solferino on 24 June 1859, part of the Second Italian War of Independence. The battle ended with Italo-French capture of the Rocca, the fortress then in Austrian hands.
The wounded in the battle were witnessed by the Swiss Jean-Henri Dunant. Horrified by the suffering of wounded soldiers left on the battlefield, Dunant set about a process that led to the Geneva Conventions and the establishment … (6 comments)

fayetteville arkansas real estate: Up yours - 06/11/11 11:16 PM

When  you have an 'I  Hate My Job  day'  [Even  if you're retired, you sometimes have those  days]  Try  this out:  Stop  at your  pharmacy  and  go to the thermometer section  and purchase  a rectal thermometer  made  by  Johnson & Johnson.  Be very sure you get this  brand.  When you get home, lock your doors, draw the curtains and disconnect the phone  so you will not be disturbed.  Change into very comfortable clothing and sit in your favorite chair. Open the package and remove the thermometer.  Now, carefully place it on a table or a surface  so that it will not become chipped or broken.  Now the fun part begins.  Take out the literature from the box and … (15 comments)

fayetteville arkansas real estate: The early bird catches the worm… - 06/10/11 11:44 PM

The early bird catches the worm…
I don’t know about you but I’m a big fan of Iron Chef America© and a lot of shows on the Food Network©.  Anyway the battle I just watched was cheddar cheese.  Anyway at the end when the winner was announced.  Mr. Brown said remember it’s the early bird that catches the worm but the second mouse that gets the cheese.  I’ve found that true in real estate.  The first agent gets little or no cooperation from the seller and therefore the second agent gets the listing.  The second agent usually gets the cooperation … (11 comments)

fayetteville arkansas real estate: So tell me about the “puszta’… - 06/08/11 11:44 PM

Here is another one even Webster© does not know.  Now, now I’m not making this up and I copied it down as the kiddos were spelling them.  The word actually exists but I had to go to the World Wide Web to find it.  So I would guess by now you want to know the meaning OK here goes: (pus ta’) a vast wilderness of grass and bushes.  Who would have thought?

A WOMAN WILL...

A real woman is a man's best friend.
She will never stand him up and never let him down.
She will reassure him when he feels insecure and comfort him after a bad day.
        She will inspire him to do things he never thought he could do;
to live without fear and forget regret.
She will enable him to express his deepest emotions,
and give in to his most intimate desires.
She will make sure he always feels as though he's the … (14 comments)

fayetteville arkansas real estate: How many “huipils” have you seen today? - 06/06/11 11:32 PM

OK now we are going to the National Spelling Bee as I have mentioned before.  This will be a 12 wordsmith series on the words these 11-14 year old kiddos were spelling.  So I’ve seen these daily and I bet you have also.  The meaning of (we pel’) is: a loose, often colorfully embroidered garment worn as by Indian women of Mexico and Guatemala

fayetteville arkansas real estate: Have you ever had someone ask you about a “poser”? - 06/05/11 11:33 PM

Well I can tell you this happens more than I want to admit.  However there is a way to have this not happen and that is through education.  While I still enjoy these from time to time my job is to inform the clients in such a manner as these do not come up. Now for the meaning of (poz’er) : a baffling question or problem.  Keep them from happening by being very informative, but wait isn’t that your job???

fayetteville arkansas real estate: Grandpas Hands - 06/04/11 11:59 PM

Grandpa, some ninety plus years, sat feebly on the patio bench. He didn't move, just sat with his head down staring at his hands. When I sat down beside him he didn't acknowledge my presence and the longer I sat, I wondered if he was OK. Finally, not really wanting to disturb him but wanting to check on him at the same time, I asked him if he was OK. He raised his head and looked at me and smiled. "Yes, I'm fine.  Thank you for asking," he said in a clear strong voice. "I didn't mean to disturb you, Grandpa, but … (8 comments)

fayetteville arkansas real estate: Give me the meaning of “puszta, zwischenspiel, and so forth… - 06/04/11 12:30 AM

I watched some of the latter part of the National Spelling Bee the other day and those were some of the words 11-14 year old kids were spelling and getting right.  When I was growing up what happened to see Jack run or Sally walked to her home after school?  I’ll just give you a few and who knows you may see some of them later on Wordsmith:  Keitloa, haori and zanja.  My head hurt just hearing the word much less trying to spell it

fayetteville arkansas real estate: Do you have clients and agents who “vacillate”? - 06/02/11 11:21 PM

Well I showed this word to the wife and she got it but I wonder how many of you will.  I thought I knew what it meant but I was wrong so I’ll ask you do you really know all the meanings of the word selected today?  So again before I tell you one of the meanings do you know agents or clients who vacillate?  The meaning of (lat’) is (one of them) is to waver in mind: show indecision.  How many agents are going to leave this profession this year and how many clients are going to change their … (10 comments)

fayetteville arkansas real estate: Do you know someone who has “ulotrichous”? - 06/01/11 11:02 PM

I didn’t know they had a word to describe this…  I can assure you Microsoft© Word won’t pick this one up.  I don’t know if this would be a blessing or a curse...  I do know I don’t suffer from this problem however sometimes I would like to know how it feels.  You might be wondering what the meaning of (yoo la’tri kes) is well I’ll tell you it means; having wool or tightly twisted hair.  While I don’t have an abundance of hair on my head there was a time I did.  You know what they say about bald … (11 comments)

fayetteville arkansas real estate: Do you show clients homes that are “commodious”? - 05/30/11 01:15 AM

My wife is one of the smartest people I know and if I can’t spell a word I call her and she 99.99% of the time can spell it with no problem and tell you what its meaning is.  So as I was looking over Webster’s© and came across this word I went to her and she got pretty darn close so I decided to use it.  Again I ask you do you show clients homes that are (ke mo’de es)?  I know I do and the meaning is: offering plenty of room; spacious; roomy.  If the home is smaller … (9 comments)

fayetteville arkansas real estate: Southern Manners - 05/29/11 12:29 AM

Two informally dressed ladies happened to start up a conversation during an endless wait in the Charleston, WV airport. The first lady was an arrogant California woman married to a wealthy man.

The second was a well-mannered elderly woman from Mingo County.

When the conversation centered on whether they had any children, the California woman started by saying, "When my first child was born, my husband built a beautiful mansion for me."

The lady from Mingo County commented, "Well, isn't that precious?"

The first woman continued, "When my second child was born, my husband bought me a beautiful Mercedes-Benz."
