Asheville ranks 49th of the 292 Metropolitan Statistical Areas in percent change of house prices according to the Federal Housing Finance Agency report released today. Asheville had a +.58% change for the final quarter 2008, +1.31% change for 2008, and +46.49% change over the last 5 years. It is easy to become disheartened about the current conditions in the Asheville Real Estate Market if you are trying to sell a property, but we are in much better shape than most areas of the country. Prices have held up relatively well for those properties that are selling. On the buyer's side, if you have excellent credit or cash it is a good time to start looking for investment/rental properties or think about purchasing that larger home.

According to figures released last week by the North Carolina Association of Realtors existing home sales in Asheville NC were down 19% in October and total sales volume was down 8% from the previous year. On the bright side dollar volume was up 26% from September 2008. If you are able to get financing, now is a good time to start looking. Let me help you with your Asheville NC real estate purchase.
