So you're looking to buy a home or refinance your current one.  If you've gone through this process before, let me start off by telling you things have changed.  Minimal documentation was the norm several years ago.  Believe it or not, at one point, all you needed was your drivers license to purchase a home and a pen to sign a stack of papers.  That's it.  The rules, however, have changed.  Listed below are the standard documentation you will need with us.  Some borrowers will need more items (depending on the the loan they are doing and typically at the lenders … (2 comments)

james jeter: Experian To Stop Issuing FICO score to Consumers - 02/23/09 09:29 PM
Recently, Experian announced that they will no longer provide FICO scores to the general public. They announced that they are terminating their relationship with myFICO.com, a website that sold credit scores from all three credit bureaus (Experian, TransUnion, and Equifax), ultimately not allowing consumers to know their FICO score. Experian will allow you to purchase their own scoring model, PLUS Score and another scoring system created by the 3 bureaus known as VantageScore.
However, most lenders (mortgage, banks, and auto dealers) use the FICO scoring system. Also know that eac h scoring model calculates scores differently. Rest assured that your lender … (8 comments)

james jeter: My Theme Song - James by Billy Joel - 05/19/08 06:50 PM
I spent the first ten years of my life growing up around Seoul, Korea.  My father, a since retired US ARMY NCO, was stationed there until just before my 11th birthday.  Since this was infancy of cable, MTV had yet to make it's presence known in the Land of the Morning Calm or to any of our neighbors in the Far East.  However, as soon as we moved to our house in Fort Polk, LA during the summer of 1987, I soon began to "WANT MY MTV!" like every other adolescent in America.

Overseas, I knew about all the … (20 comments)

Hello my name is James Jeter.  Today is my one month anniversary here on Active Rain and I realized I've yet to formally introduce myself on Active Rain.  I was introduced to this forum by Nathan Scott, a true professional and asset to his colleagues and clients.

james jeter: Aftermath - Weathering the Storm - 04/13/08 04:14 PM
I was on my way to work late on Thursday morning, due to having to repair my fence because of the strong winds that pounded on the Dallas area Wednesday night. Fortunately, the only property damaged I sustained was a portion of my fence being blown down. Imagine waking up and seeing your neighbor's car "parked" in your backyard.

About a year ago, my homeowners association planted several trees along the perimeter of our neighborhood. Fortunately, none of them had any damage or were uprooted. They managed to fend off the winds just fine and from the looks of … (6 comments)
