Asheville Homes and Multi-Generational Living Neighborhoods (1) - 02/29/12 09:48 AM
Home Buyers have expressed interest in Asheville’s Multi-Generational Living Neighborhoods. What is down the road?? According to many experts, as the impact and demand of Baby Boomers affects the real estate market, the popularity of living quarters devoted to Multi-Generation Living will grow. More and more families are choosing that cooperative environment and mutual benefits that arise for all members regardless of age. Whether they belong to the “Sandwich Generations” or their parents’ age-group, or the “Boomerang Generation” multi-generational families have the possibility of enjoying greater comfort and energy savings. More on great potential in Part 2. (1 comments)
Recently, we reviewed Crest Mountain and the Villages at Crest Mountain. Then we took a stroll around the perimeter of the eco village where we caught up with Clint Lasher, Project Manager for the Villages. It was fun to get a glimpse of what is going on at the Villages in terms of rain water harvesting, (SEE DARLING VIDEO on RAIN CHAIN to your right) in particular, a rivulet flowing on the property. When it comes to Asheville real estate “calculators” it could be all about that *special* “calculator” with three-names. . . “Location, Location, Location!” Pretty much true, but there’s a step to take even before thinking about Location. And that has to do with having a Good-Eye when it comes to calculating affordability. We sure appreciate those onlinecalculators...they are such handy tools. . . so helpful as you put pencil to paper.
Calculators and Decision-Making: Over the years, clients have told me that calculating the dollar figures on monthly and annual income, monthly (0 comments)
Asheville Style- warm socks at first freeze I love the prospect of warm socks at first freeze, just the soldierlike look of them in neat rowslined up before menext to the French-milled soapsin the second dresser drawerwhere they have bunkered down, neglected since the daffodils bloomed. A colorful assemblage they,in vibrant vermillion, or glamorous grey,or in umber, or in those multi-hued,patiently waiting to be tapped for duty. I am dancing now in the hours after donningthe pair - carolina blue ,with my tweeds and outdoor duds, cashmere caressing my lucky toes, (13 comments)

Black Bears No Nap Time ( That’s Asheville Style) - 02/15/12 07:20 PM
Black bears take long naps at this time of year, right? Maybe…if you live where the nights are very, very cold. But here on the ridges just outside Asheville, NC, there’s no nap time for Genus Ursus. In fact, I saw these black bears on the slope beside our cabin here in Asheville just the other day. Obviously, no napping going on there!
The sighting of the black bear on our land reminded me not to nap myself…to pay attention as we scout amazing acreage for our land clients. After all, we are not the only travelers on the (10 comments)
WALNUT COVE or Pebble Beach Golf - 02/10/12 03:33 PM
WALNUT COVE or Pebble Beach Golf. Oh BOY! It's Pro-Am tee time at Pebble Beach and this avid chipper has been enjoying the show. ( The links were designed by the way by two "amateur" golf course design architects, unlike Asheville's Walnut Cove Jack Nicklaus Signature Course which opened in April 2005. ) It is the first time in 10 years that we have seen Tiger play Pebble Beach in the National Pro-Am Tour. Today he birdied the 391-yard par-four first hole, but his play seems a little sporadic, so we will have to see how it all works out. (1 comments)

The sidewalks in Walkable Asheville's Lakeview Park run down to greet Beaver Lake. First created in 1920, Beaver Lake is man-made. It grew from the damming of Beaver Creek. For me, this “private lake” shines like a diamond in the carolina blue sky, for, although it is “private” the Lakeview Park walkable community welcomes Asheville residents and those relocating to Asheville to stroll, sit and enjoy ,canoe the lake, or jog aroung its perimeter. And if ,any given day, during the winter, spring, summer or fall of the year, you may see the young and (23 comments)
