Life as An Art Form Asheville, NC - 03/30/12 09:25 PM
Life, as an art form, is present in our lives around Asheville almost every day...Yes and you may come to know what the poet Albert Camus , one of my all-time favorite poets meant when he said,
“A man's work is nothing but this slow trek to rediscover, through the detours of art, those two or three great and simple images in whose presence his heart first opened.”Great and simple images.

Baby Boomers Clients Say- Use Interconnecting Niches - - 03/24/12 10:50 AM
Interconnecting Niches -Baby Boomers Advise on Income Streams
How can you stand out from the crowd and earn extra dollars?   Our Baby Boomers clients are well-know for utilizing a veritable tapestry of interconnecting niches. Then, they tell us, the  whole thing can flow together, beautifully. When you weave a “tapestry” of interconnecting niches, it is like connecting the threads to make sense  of the overall picture.   But this cannot be just any old “creation.”  Like any work of art, it must take thought and planning.
First, you have to know, acknowledge, and *energize* this "fabric" via your talents and your passions.

Baby Boomers, the New Vision of Aging and (UN) Retirement - 03/22/12 01:31 PM
“New Vision” of Aging, Baby Boomers and (UN) Retirement (series)
A new [UN] Retirement survey (a survey by Merrill Lynch) I recently discovered  indicates that Baby Boomers are not inclined to go the traditional retirement-leisure route. "Baby Boomers fundamentally will reinvent retirement,”  James P. Gorman, president of the Merrill Lynch Global Private Client Group told the press. I am wondering how this will impact home and land buyers and sellers. From that perspective,
I found two items of particular interest and  noted them for your review:
1. The survey found five (5)  Boomer groups —Empowered Trailblazers, Wealth-Builders, Leisure Lifers, Anxious Idealists, and … (3 comments)

She is outspoken . And , I bet she  well understands the appropriation and care of a “feathered nest.”

Baby Boomers (Un)Retirement - Have you been “Thinking Green” lately? A number of us, especially as we notice silvery to white hair becoming more prominent, certainly have been “Thinking Green.”  (After all it IS St. Patrick's Day!) And when it comes to an active lifestyle and creative retirement, no doubt about it, Baby Boomers are strongly interested in investigating the possibilities offered  when living in eco-friendly, multigenerational communities.
As Baby Boomers begin to (un)retire, eco-friendly lifestyles and the health and environmental benefits of a "go green" attitude fit well. An increasingly popular option hopefully becoming more common across the USA and elsewhere … (1 comments)

Natural Neighborhoods: Eco- and Generation-Conscious
Whether you refer to developments as ecovillages, co-housing, or old-time neighborhoods, those in the know say this is the next trend in multi-generational housing. And the concept that originated in Denmark is now making a mark here in the USA.

Asheville Creative “Retirement” Alternatives - 03/14/12 02:15 PM
As a REALTOR working with Asheville second homes and  creative “retirement” alternatives,  I think about The “New” Vision of Aging…and what “ successful aging”  involves in terms of coming to a feathered nest...whether navigating on snow skis or wheelchair. How Long Will I Live? Here is a fascinating calculator  (IF you dare =)  from the Wharton Statistics Department at the University of Pennsylvania. Give it a try if you will…and let me  know what you think!  “With elongating lifespans, the number of seniors is rapidly growing. Pundits and politicians warn of the consequent drain on our resources. But what if we viewed this … (3 comments)

Asheville Business- Sow True Seed- Grows to Reach YOU - 03/13/12 07:59 AM
One of my very favorite Asheville-based businesses is  Sow True Seed.  What makes me say this?  I love the idea that they are an "open-pollinated/non-hybrid vegetable, herb and flower seed company specializing in heirloom, certified organic. . ." seed company.
In addition,  the mission of this company is to "  to promote and foster community sustainability by helping to preserve our shared botanical heritage and seed a new era of sustainable culture and ecological wisdom." Asheville resident Carol Koury, founded  Sow True in 2009  to serve home gardeners, market growers and the seed saving community at large.Carol is committed to providing healthy … (4 comments)
