asheville eco learning tours: Conservation Land Buyers & Asheville's Land Brokers- Are Today's Brokers Lazy? (Part 1) - 06/27/09 03:16 PM
Dateline Asheville, North Carolina, June, 2009
News and Views from Asheville's Greenolina, Real Estate Eco-Steward
I'm sharing here Parts 1  and 2 of  a letter that one of our eco-friendly conservation land buyers'received from a member of the "Green Team" at our Firm.
The reason why? Simple. Sometimes people are unaware of the research and energy that goes into the practice of real estate. Sometimes this can be distressing to folks like those seen in the photo ..real estate professionals who spend hours and days preparing for a meeting with clients.....
So here is a clue on just what goes on … (3 comments)

asheville eco learning tours: ASHEVILLE DEVELOPMENT: GREEN Muse Looks at Growth - 06/02/09 09:59 AM
MAPPING ASHEVILLE DEVELOPMENT --Asheville, NC-  June , 2009
I got an email from a dear friend and client this morning. She and her husband, conservation land stewards, live in South Carolina but hold land here in the Asheville area.
It seems that news has traveled down her way.
"I hear that Asheville is becoming much more populated - that lots of people are moving there.  For good reason, of course., " she wrote.
Looking at this from various perspectives (see photo of my pal  the "green muse of Asheville looking at future growth)I find  I have several answers for her. Here in … (3 comments)

asheville eco learning tours: The Short Sale & Buyers' Brokers (Part 2-Training) - 05/22/09 10:14 PM
Asheville, May 2009

The short sale  process could (and often does) turn out to be not only  a daunting task but a lengthy one. Many complications can entangle the short sale, sales  in which the proceeds will be less than the balance owed on the mortgage loan. Like Medusa's Snake Locks  there is the potential for some pretty nasty snarls.  How to smooth out the tangles?
Advanced Training: Some suggest that advanced training and skill in navigating the short sale process is NOT necessary.  Other real estate professionals, who daily undertake servicing the parties involved in a complex and complicated process, contend … (5 comments)

asheville eco learning tours: Schools Promote Asheville's Creative Thinking - 04/17/09 06:44 PM
For  parents interested in the quality of  education here in the Asheville area please note the happy news that four (4) local schools have made it to the finals of Odyssey of the Mind.

Not only is this a very laudable accomplishment, but you may gather from the expressions on their faces, the teams seem also to find the experience worth their time and energy.  (As a former schoolteacher and guidance counselor, I am totally delighted.)
Odyssey of the Mind  is an international educational program that "provides creative problem-solving opportunities for students from kindergarten through college.
Participants work in teams and  members … (1 comments)

asheville eco learning tours: Land for Sale Asheville's Secret Conservation Gems a Photo Shoot - 04/08/09 10:41 AM
Land for Sale Asheville's Secret Conservation Gems- Photo Shoot
As chance would have it, we happened on land for sale that our eco-community minded clients will thrill to while out on a photo shoot on this  brilliant April Day.
There were the gentle slopes, the trails to easy then steep climbs, the Old Growth Grandfather Tree, the south-facing meadow, the cascading falls, the moss so old you were awestruck, and beside it, an Appalachian chimney ruin and ancient stone wall; places where continuity reigns and tranquility abides.
Here are a few moments we captured along the way. Let me know if, like us, YOU are a person … (5 comments)

asheville eco learning tours: Asheville "Scene " Around Town Photo Series: IF the Shoe Fits - 04/04/09 05:58 PM
The other day a group of us took one of Eco Stewards'  Learning Tours here in Asheville. We headed out to take a peek at some interesting new Green-Built homes not far from downtown. As we were about to step over the threshold, the builder stopped us. "Take off your shoes," she requested..." "The recycled wood floors have a non-toxic finish, but we aren't sure if it is completely set yet."
Of course, we all happily obliged. And that's when I snapped this photo. ..and thought....how similar, yet how different all those shoes were...and how we , too are so much alike, yet … (3 comments)
