Part 1 "Boomers and Aging in Place"

AGING IN A PALACE : Do you have a friend or relative who might feel more comfortable visiting you if your home were more accessible? We do. And we know that there is much to be said for a comfortable home that makes sense for you, your family and friends.  In fact, the topic of all inclusive homes is “hot” these days.
It seems “Boomers” are spearheading a trend toward staying in a “FOR ever” home  - today, and for years to come (“aging in place”).   How about you? Would … (8 comments)

universal design: AGING-In-PLACE SURVEY - 10/25/13 11:12 PM

BOOMERS AND A.I.P.
I began a conversation with Merijane Lee the other day. She’s a graduate student in interior design at San Francisco State University (SFSU). Her research topic is focused on “Boomers” and --  of special interest to those of us working with older adults—an area trend watchers in our industry are following -- Aging-in-place (A.I.P.)
A REAL ESTATE CONNECTION
I was excited to discover how much we have in common—including the fact that she invested in residential properties and earned her real estate license. I appreciate the fact that after working in science and technology for 25+ … (2 comments)

universal design: HUD focusing on greenliviing in a healthy homes initiative - 02/16/13 10:38 PM

YOU may be interested, as I am,  in HUD's emerging focus on greenliviing. This is being presented  as the healthy homes initiative.  Here in Asheville, where greenliving is in high demand, this is promising news -for both real estate professionals and our clients.  I especially like the idea that green retrofitting can improve quality of life for my market segment- baby boomers (and beyond) who are making choices about whether to move or stay in our homes.  Aging-in-place is under serious consideration for many of our Asheville clients where envisioning ways to avoid preventable hazards may be appreciated in … (6 comments)

universal design: REALTORS® can see properties in terms of lifestyle solutions - 01/16/13 05:21 AM
How REALTORS®   see a property in terms of innovative living solutions can open the way to possibility. For example: What if, given the trend toward a preference for “human scale” design the real estate professional’s very approach to a property changes?   I consider this as I wander down the streets of a neighborhood in the process of gentrification  in Asheville .... noted for being a top retirement town.

So many boomers love the idea ofplanning for and then  living, working and/or retiring in a location where the atmosphere of a neighborly village is tangible- regardless of age or physical … (1 comments)

Asheville Homes for sale Baby Boomers and Eco-Friendly Retirement-at-Home (Green Remodel)
It can be a good idea to gather a deeper understanding about ways to ensure being comfortable in retirement, UN retirement, creative, retirement or get into re-inventing the way we engage life and age.
