      <title>A Little More About Me &amp; Less About Real Estate</title>

Most good things in my life, one way or another, have stemmed from the connections I've made through hockey. Hockey has afforded me the opportunity to travel throughout the United State and Canada and in doing so I have met many MANY outstanding people!&amp;nbsp; In fact.. I even met my husband through hockey! I've played in games &amp;amp; tournaments in cities such as Windsor, Toronto, Oshawa, Niagara Falls, Rochester, Minneapolis, Detroit, Philadelphia, Pittsburgh, Cleveland, Indianapolis, Nashville and more! &lt;/p&gt;&lt;p&gt;I started skating with my father around the age of 10. My father is a GREAT hockey player. He would teach "Learn to Play Hockey" classes and I would absorb as much as possible always hoping that some day I would be half as good as he was. One thing led to another and I started playing with a girls traveling team then on my high school team - Woodland Hills in Pittsburgh. I played defense which was very comical at times when the opposing team would crash the net and I would try to move someone that towered over my 5' 1" frame.&lt;/p&gt;&lt;p&gt;After high school I attended &lt;a href="http://www.chatham.edu/" target="_blank"&gt;Chatham College&lt;/a&gt; (NCAA DIII)&amp;nbsp;where I was captain for two years and&amp;nbsp;I learned a lot about politics, people&amp;nbsp;and team work. Lessons I still recall and use to this day!&lt;/p&gt;&lt;p&gt;I'm now Captain and President of the Pittsburgh Piranhas. &lt;a href="http://www.pittsburghpiranhas.com/"&gt;http://www.pittsburghpiranhas.com/&lt;/a&gt; I've been with the team for 5 years and together, with my team mates, we won our first Championship this past season. This is my 5th year as a Piranha and I could not ask for a better group of woman to call my friends. Plasmodia are the feeding stages of slime molds, and they are frequently seen on lawns, small plants, mulch, and decaying wood in late summer. Slime molds are not plant parasites, but they may injure plants by covering and shading them.&lt;/p&gt;&lt;p&gt;&lt;strong&gt;EMPLOYMENT&lt;br&gt;&lt;/strong&gt;Upon graduation my options in the Bio-Tech field &amp;amp; Mycology fields&amp;nbsp;were slim at best. So I decided to take a chance with a Pittsburgh based construction &amp;amp; remodeling business. &lt;a href="http://www.creativekitchensandmore.com" target="_blank"&gt;Creative Kitchens and More&lt;/a&gt;&amp;nbsp;My years working with Creative Kitchens eventually lead to property management, evaluating and purchasing of rehab properties. Not only have some red-hot markets slowed considerably, but the housing cycle could move back into positive territory by the time your student graduates.&lt;/p&gt;&lt;p&gt;Some of the more consistent and stable real estate markets for traditional second homes and rental properties are the residential neighborhoods surrounding established colleges and universities. Why? The school isn't going anywhere, and visiting faculty, staff and students will always need a roof over their heads.&lt;/p&gt;&lt;p&gt;According to the National Association of Realtors, not only are recent retirees "buying down" to smaller college towns with their educational amenities and vibrant social and athletic environment, but a growing number of business owners with relatively small groups of employees are also moving to smaller college towns for the convenience of research and a larger entry-level employee base.       <title>High End Home Sales on the Rise in Greater Pittsburgh Market</title>
      <description>&lt;p&gt;&lt;img src="http://z.about.com/d/pittsburgh/1/0/r/6/pittsburgh_2-400.jpg" height="150" alt=" " width="200"&gt;Greater Pittsburgh's residential real estate market in the first quarter of 2007 continues to keep pace with 2006 - a year that bucked national trends by actually having an increase in sales units over 2005 when virtually every other major metropolitan market suffered severe decreases.&lt;/p&gt;&lt;p&gt;Of particular note, sales of high end homes are up considerably in the first quarter of 2007 compared to the same period of 2006.&lt;/p&gt;&lt;p&gt;According to statistics provided by the West Penn Multi-List (WPMLS), overall residential sales for January through March 2007 are virtually the same as 2006. There were 4,926 sales in the first quarter of 2007 versus 4,942 in 2006 for the same period. That's a difference of only 16 fewer sales - a virtually flat decrease of .04%.&lt;/p&gt;&lt;p&gt;"We felt that the region's strong showing in 2006 when we had 2% more sales than in 2005 would provide us a strong start to the new year," said George Hackett, President of the WPMLS Board of Directors and President &amp;amp; Chief Operating Officer of Coldwell Banker Real Estate, Inc., in Pittsburgh. "We've certainly not been disappointed in that regard. While national experts and trends indicate that no one is quite sure what 2007 will hold across the country, we still believe there is reason for optimism in Western Pennsylvania and this strong start to the first quarter would seem to support that."&lt;/p&gt;&lt;p&gt;Delving further into the statistics shows that the area's market for high end home sales is particularly strong. For homes priced $401,000 and up, there were 211 sales in the first quarter of this year versus 183 last year representing a 15.3% increase. In the category of $801,000 and higher, there was a 63.6% increase with 36 sales this quarter versus 22 in the first quarter of 2006.&lt;/p&gt;&lt;p&gt;"It's indeed encouraging to see such increases in ourhigh end market," Hackett said. "Home buyers in Greater Pittsburgh understand that our region is not only a sound investment where it's long been noted that you get &amp;lsquo;more home for your money' but also one in which there truly is an excellent selection within our luxury properties for sale.
