Be Ready for Anything, Anytime, Anywhere! - 02/29/12 07:17 PM
Be Ready for Anything, Anytime, Anywhere!
Recently, an e-mail hit my in-box that a lead had been sent my way on one of my short sale listings in Scottsdale, AZ. Since I happened to be in front my desktop, I contacted the prospective buyer right away.  We chatted briefly wherein I explained that the property was under contract, but  I asked if I could locate something else for him.  I need to add here that our short sale listings reflect as Active on public sites, but to our MLS community the listing does reflect we are waiting for bank acceptance.
Anyway, … (8 comments)

Today I Turned Down 2 Sales - 02/21/12 10:30 PM
Today I turned Down 2 Sales -
This past week, a client called wanting to know the market in her neighborhood.  To me, this meant she wanted to know what her home was worth.  Since I happened to be at the computer, I told her.  The only recent listing in her neighborhood is now under contract and there are 3 solds within the lat 90 days.  Not a lot of inventory for 139 homes next to a nice Public Golf Course in mid to North Phoenix.
Since she bought this home through me 2 years ago as a foreclosure, I knew … (10 comments)

Farmers Markets at City North, Desert Ridge - 02/19/12 06:33 PM
Farmers Markets at City North, Desert Ridge  -
Venturing out today, I met a girlfriend and fellow realtor at the Farmers Market at City North, Desert Ridge.  Not having been to this one, I decided it was worth a shot. There were quite a few vendors, but few vegetables, and the event was from 10 am - 2 pm. I found some wonderful Christmas gifts for my 3 daughters by Susan K. Waters, Unique Anytime Gifts.  These are beautiful salad sets, handcrafted with stones and so sturdy that she says they may pass the dishwasher test.  Like Susan says, "Life is too short … (3 comments)

La Grande Orange Pizzeria- For Breakfast? - 02/18/12 02:58 PM
La Grande Orange Pizzeria - For Breakfast?
Yesterday morning started out with a meeting with 2 other volunteers for an event I'm putting together. Deciding on the location wasn't too easy as we three are in entirely different parts of the "Valley."  So, I decided that we should split the difference and meet in the middle, making it easy for everyone.
Next decision on my "plate" was where should we meet. Remembering that a small grocery had tables and chairs and was surrounded by restaurants, I chose La Grande Orange Grocery.  Next to the Grocery is the Pizzeria and the … (5 comments)

Who Doesn't Love Beer - Arizona Beer Fest! - 02/17/12 04:08 PM
Who Doesn't Love Beer - Arizona Beer Fest!
It's the 2nd Annual Beer Week in Arizona, courtesy of Arizona Craft Brewers Guild, from February 18 - 25.
All over the state there are celebrations.  From Tucson to Flagstaff, you'll find beer tastings, beer pairings, entertainment and trinkets.  From the Flagstaff Ale Trail Pub Crawl (walking tour) to Four Peaks Kilt Fest you'll find every type of beer imaginable. But the Eggs & Kegs this Saturday at the Draw 10 Bar sounds pretty interesting if you ask me!  Draw 10 Bar has at least 70 Craft Beers.
The official Kick Off event is at the Steele … (8 comments)

What has being a real estate agent taught you about life? - 02/14/12 12:22 PM
This blog really makes you think introspectivly about what we've learned and why.  Dana really struck a note with me as I've been thinking about all of the things I've learned lately.  And today is a celebratory day in Arizona with our "100th Year Anniversary."  So, comment on Dana's blog with your comments of what real estate has taught you!

Arizona Turns 100 Today!! - 02/14/12 11:46 AM
Arizona Turns 100 Today!!
That's right today, Arizona celebrates the 100th Anniversary of Statehood.  Hard to imagine the state is so young when it is so rich in history.  For todays celebration, a fun filled agenda includes Activities, Events and Black Tie event.
Some fun facts about Arizona:
The date for statehood was originally supposed to be February 12, 1912, but that was Abraham Lincoln's birthday. February 13 was thought to be unlucky, so Valentines Day it is!
Did you know that there was a "Skirmish at Picacho Pass?" This was the only Civic War (1862) encounter in AZ.
Arizona's … (5 comments)

Back in the Rain After visiting Everett, Washington! - 02/11/12 10:40 AM
Back in the Rain  After visiting Everett, Washington!
Wow - time flies quickly when you don't stay up to speed with your connections on ActiveRain.  I've been out of town and out of touch, but am back at work after visiting the town of Everett, Washington.
What a great town.  I should have connected with some AR folks to really make it special, but didn't have enough time.  That may be the next thing I do when I re-visit the area.
You can imagine what it's like to travel from the desert and cactus to such a different … (10 comments)

Family Affair in a Cul-De-Sac; Another Short Sale Closed! - 02/09/12 12:34 PM
Family Affair in a Cul-De-Sac;   Short Sale Closed!
After 8 long months, my clients finally own a second home in Arizona.  It's a cute story worth sharing since the family owns half the cul-de-sac now!
About a year and a half ago, a good friend and agent called asking if I'd like to represent the buyer in one of her short sale listings.  Of course I said yes.  Not only was it great that she called, but the buyers were such "good people" that that part was a bonus.  We closed that short sale after 7 months.
But the real … (4 comments)
