FAQ ABOUT HOME STAGING - What about my pets? - 05/31/12 05:26 PM

FAQ ABOUT STAGING -  What about my pets while I'm selling my home?
We all love our pets. Whether a dog, cat, rodent or snake, they are special to us.
Unfortunately, like our memories, they are only special to us. When we are selling our homes, pets are another distraction for the Buyer. You should not narrow the number of Buyers who will love your home to pet owners.
The facts are that some Buyers will turn and leave if they hear a dog barking, see a cat or pet cage. This may be due to allergies, fear or the … (12 comments)

Dealing with Client's Issues as a Professional Stager - 05/31/12 07:56 AM

Yesterday I worked with three clients about to go on the market who had personal issues that would affect their sale.
As a Burlington Stager, it is my job to work with the client finding solutions.
My morning client was downsizing and trying to work out what to keep and what to let go.
My afternoon client was updating a home after losing a dear relative.
My evening client was selling after a separation.
Each of these clients presents a challenge for a Stager or Realtor.
The Client that is downsizing must decide what to let go of and … (12 comments)

FAQ ABOUT HOME STAGING - What can I do on a limited budget? - 05/30/12 08:02 AM
What can I do on a limited budget? A FAQ ABOUT HOME STAGING
As a Burlington Stager, I work within the Seller's budget. Whether small or large there is a level of Staging that will fit their budget.
I am trained to assess the property and help the Seller choose where their budget will do the most good.
There are different levels of Staging and they will all make a difference in how the Buyer views the house.
Level I will put a few accessories in the home dressing up a mantle or the kitchen counters or vanities. It could … (6 comments)

FAQ ABOUT HOME STAGING - I'm on the market. Is it too late to Stage? - 05/28/12 04:20 PM
FAQ ABOUT HOME STAGING - I'm on the market. Is it too late to Stage?
As a Burlington Stager, I have clients approach me that are already on the Market. They felt they knew what to do to prepare their home or they felt their home was not in need of changes. Now they are on the market and it is not going well. The visits are low and the feedback is negative. Their Realtor may be talking about a price reduction.
The client is now ready to listen.
The answer is that it is not too late to Stage … (18 comments)

FAQ ABOUT HOME STAGING - Do I have to Stage every room? - 05/27/12 05:00 PM
Another FAQ ABOUT HOME STAGING is Do I have to Stage every room?
In some cases, the Seller does not have the budget to Stage the whole house. In that case a Stager can help them choose the best use of their budget. This applies to occupied and vacant homes.
Professional Stagers know which rooms are key. By Staging the most important rooms for the Buyer the Seller can still help them see how their lifestyle will fit into the house.
Staging the key rooms helps the Buyer form an emotional attachment with the home.
Staging means the most important … (12 comments)

FAQ ABOUT HOME STAGING - Who will be buying this house? - 05/26/12 11:42 AM
One of the first FAQ BY A HOME STAGER is Who will be buying this house?
As a Burlington Stager, it is my job to consider who I am trying to reach.
Will the Buyer be a first time home owner?
Will the Buyer be moving up in the market?
Will the Buyer be single or have a family?
How old will the Buyer be?
Will the Buyer be down sizing?
Once I have a description of the type or types of Buyer(s) I put a Staging plan together for that house.
I know from experience what sort of furnishings they … (6 comments)

FAQ ABOUT HOME STAGING - Staging? You just fluff pillows, right? - 05/25/12 08:32 AM
FAQ ABOUT STAGING - You just fluff pillows right? This is one question that frustrates me after 7yrs as a Burlington Stager.
There is so much more to Staging than accessorizing.
As a Stager my job starts at the Curb. I look at the exterior of the home taking in the roof, the paint, the windows, the driveway, the steps & walks, the hardware on the front door and lets not forget the mail box.
Once inside, I am on the look for deferred maintenance issues because large or small they will affect how the Buyer looks at the home.

When should I do the Staging? A FAQ ABOUT HOME STAGING.

Most Buyers start looking on the Internet. be able to make improvements that could increase the value of your home. help the Buyer see your home is worth the list price. help the Buyer picture their lifestyle fitting into your … (8 comments)

A Renovator's Dream Is Showcased - Before & After - 05/17/12 12:37 PM
I received a call recently from a Renovator. A project was nearing completion and they wanted to stage the home for sale.
We went through the house together discussing each area and the finishing touches they had planned.
Together we chose the pieces to be used in each room.
Staging pulled these rooms together and now Buyers will have no trouble seeing their lifestyle fitting into this home.

Selling Your Burlington Home? Maximize Your Outdoor Spaces - 05/14/12 07:37 AM
As summer begins sellers can no longer ignore their outdoor spaces. It's time to show off those additional living rooms. Create inviting areas for that morning coffee, BBQ or glass of wine in the evening after work. Kristine shows us just what can be done!

There was a knock at the door and ..... - 05/12/12 04:26 PM

I had just started my consult with a client when there was a knock at the door.
My client came back and said the people at the door were asking for one of my cards!
I gave her a card and continued on with the consult.
That's a first for me. I had worked on the home across the street and when I arrived that client was outside talking to neighbors. I guess they must have discussed me after I said hello as I headed for my consult today.
I wonder if anything will come of it ......

It was important to make the condo appeal to the right age group of buyer.

Staging is a sound marketing tool not a trick! - 05/08/12 10:50 AM

I read an article in the local paper entitled See past a home stager's tricks. Needless to say it insensed me! When will we stop being portrayed as someone who hides or misleads?!
The article is a excerpt from a book by Julie Cazzin called Money Sense, Guide to Investing in Real Estate.
Apparently,' the best tip off that home stager has been at work is a beautifully decorated home with old windows. Why? Because most stagers won't bother to go to the expense of replacing the windows.' Excuse me! Since when is it a stager's job to renovate … (16 comments)
