Getting your house ready to sell. Part one - 08/30/08 05:44 PM
Two of the biggest decisions you will make in your life are those concerning buying or selling your home. When speaking with real estate agents when your ready to purchase  they will often refer to it as a "home", thus personalizing it. But, when your selling they often refer to it as a house, thus de-personalizing it referring to it more as a commodity then a personal possession.
The first step in getting your home ready to sell is to "de-personalize" it.
Removeall family photos, knick-knacks, trophies and such from shelves. Box up and put them into storage. Don't just stow them away … (2 comments)

Why do we celebrate Labor Day? - 08/30/08 12:36 PM
Labor day has been celebrated in the United States and Canada as a national holiday since 1894. For many, Labor Day means one of two things: a day off work and/or the end of summer. This day is set aside to pay tribute to the many working men and women of our country.
On September 5, 1882, in New York City we held our first Labor Day parade. This day was chosen by the worker's union because it was half way between Independence Day and Thanksgiving. As this spread across the country some states declared it a holiday before the government declared it … (2 comments)

I received my first outside referral today.....life IS good! - 08/28/08 01:49 PM
Just wanted to share with you all, that today one of my dearest friends called me who had people in front of her asking about housing in Valdosta, she calmly but quickly reached for her cell phone and gave me a call, then proceeded to hand the phone to the wife.
We had a wonderful conversation and they are coming into town next week to look at houses. Relocating from Florida to Georgia.
This is my first referral outside of other agents in the office.
Isn't life GRAND?!

Welcome to South Georgia, Lowndes County - 08/27/08 02:26 PM
Come discover Valdosta, Lowndes County Georgia! Feel at home here in this quaint midsized town of about 45,000 people. One of the friendliest place I have been. Often referred to as the Azalea City.
We are about 65 miles from Tallahassee, FL and a tad over 100 miles from Jacksonville, FL. both of which are hot "SHOPPING" grounds.
Valdosta is rich with history and local culture with places such as The Valdosta Theater Guilde and the Lowndes County Historical Society. Outdoor activities are plentiful in the area, with  Wild Adventures Theme park and their ongoing concerts and seasonal activities. There are many parks in the … (5 comments)

Can anyone direct me to some really good graphics? - 08/26/08 06:31 AM
Because I am cheap and like to do my own flyers brochures and such. I am on the hunt for some really good graphics. I have found a few real estate related graphics, but most of what I have found is more clip art, drawn out.
Can anybody give me some good websites to go to for these graphics?

Why rent when you can own a home now...... - 08/25/08 10:09 AM
Had a question this morning regarding buying vs. renting and thought I would give a few logical reasons for buying a home as opposed to renting one.
1) A home tends to increase in price over times so this is one of the best investments a person can make without too much risk. A home can increase in value 3-6% every year. Even if it didn't appreciate, you could still sell it and recoup some of your expenses, where as if you were renting when you move, your money is gone and you will be lucky to get your deposit back in … (10 comments)

What are the best books to read for new agents? - 08/23/08 03:01 PM
I'm looking for the all time best books to read for new agents....There are so many books out there, but which ones to choose?

Does anyone have an all time favorite book (author) they liked reading as a new agent? One of those that give you good sound advice and direction as opposed to those that just waste your money? Something which helps you obtain realistic goals?
Mike Ferry?
Gary Keller?

Will putting only a "FOR SALE" sign in the yard sell your listing??? - 08/15/08 07:08 PM

Ok, I have only been in the "business"for a short time. Only since April. I am specifically targeting expired listing. I have listed 3 expireds in the last 3 weeks and I am hearing the same story with each one.
Agent comes out and has clients sign listing agreement sticks a sign in the yard and they never hear from them again until the listing expires. My question is does this work? Does putting a sign in the yard and walking away get your home sold? Or, is there some magic spell or mumbo jumbo you need to chant over the house … (3 comments)
