I remember when I started in this business... WAY BACK in January of 2009... that I had a lot of the more experienced agents telling me that I needed to get out and hit the pavement, knock on doors and hand out business cards. They told me that I needed to GET MY BUTT OUT THERE and FIND MY CLIENTS!!! Since I had a lot of experience with promoting past websites and social networking, my response to them was WHY NOT LET MY CLIENTS COME FIND ME??? These last two weeks have been so busy that I haven't sat down and blogged at all. I didn't think much of it but yesterday when I googled "Fort Wayne Realtor", "Fort Wayne Real Estate" and "Fort Wayne Homes For Sale" I didn't see our site on the front page! I know it's more than just blogging but I don't think it's all coincidence. From her on out I am going to set aside 2 hours a week to work on the blog and more SEO and fresh content. Just a question for you seasoned Realtors out there. Would you take your next door neighbors listing? Why or why not? I can see it being weird if it's a very difficult transaction and then your new next door neighbors already don't like you before them move in... I can see it going smoothly and making some new friends... or God for bid if my wife represents the buyers and I represent the sellers and things went wrong. Whew, that could be a nightmare!! What are your thoughts? This neighbor is a friend obviously and we are going to help him (12 comments)

One of the reasons I LOVE selling real estate in Fort Wayne is that every day is different, every day is an ADVENTURE!! Most days are good, some days are bad, once in a while the days are boring, and some days are... well... just CRAZY! After working until around 9 for the third day in a row I woke up this morning just feeling DRAINED! After 2 cups of coffee and a Diet Dr. Pepper I finally started to feel alive again. What an incredible week! We have been running and running and running and running… and I love it! We have picked up a few new buyers this week, plus a few new listings, it’s just crazy!!!! We had a pretty cool experience with a buyer this week. “Tom” came into town for a few days to see some houses, then was planning on coming back in a few weeks to look at more and then make an offer. Well… we showed Tom and his girlfriend 8 houses and the last one we saw was exactly what he wanted. EXACTLY! We got (8 comments)

Talk to your customers using the medium they prefer. Social Websites Are All About Communication I know many people that would rather chat on Facebook than email! It's becoming a very common method of communication. By having a presence on Facebook (for example) you also increase the likelyhood of being the chosen Real Estate Agent over other hopefulls for someone who prefers using Facebook to communicate. We have both been running like CRAZY lately and are ready for a nice break! We have a huge closing today on our very last flip. It’s a deal we have been trying to close for a long long long long long time. It will be a nice relief when it’s done.
