This is another film from director of whimsy Michel Gondry. He also did Eternal Sunshine of the Spotless Mind as well as the more recent Science of Sleep. The latter is online in it's entirety. Have fun accessing that wacky movie here.
For the more user-friendly Be Kind Rewind, Gondry lands Jack Black, Mos Def, Danny Glover and even a cameo from Sigourney Weaver. The concept is unique and the setup is ripe for comic harvest. I like Will Ferrell. He makes me laugh at things that I normally wouldn't. But I think even Will Ferrell is getting tired of his schtick. This really is his Anchorman character Ron Burgundy in too-tight b-ball shorts. I did laugh a little. The concept is great. Ferrell is a one-hit wonder disco singer running a team in the struggling American Basketball Association. The big 'fros, the music, the physical comedy of a lackluster athletes and the topography of the male anatomy pervasive in old school uniforms should have you rolling in the aisles. But it won't. It was also something used to torcher heretics of the Inquisition.  There were no injuries, and Sarah liked the gift she got from her boys, but it didn't dawn on me the danger of a father/son bonding moment involving stabbing long, sharp sticks into a fruit until I was trying to drive with it in my lap.  Everything is fine, but there were a few scary braking moments.

If I had the power to teleport places I'd be really fat. Because the only thing stopping me from getting that hamburger, the one advertised on TV in a beauty not seen in real life, is the fact that I'm too lazy to get in the car and drive to McDonalds.
