real estate agents: Pimps, Realtors and the Value of an Agent - 11/25/09 05:19 AM
If you've been reading Active Rain blogs at all in the past month or so, there's been a lot of discussion about the value of a real estate agent and the possible stagnation and extinction of our field.  There's a few places that referenced the sequel to Freakonomics, Superfreakonomics. In the new book, there is a comparison of Realtors to Pimps which is an upgrade over the KKK in my opinion.
"A Realtor and a pimp perform the same primary service: marketing your product to potential customers.- Steven D. Levitt and Stephen J. Dubner"
Luckily, we don't JUST MARKET the property. … (14 comments)

real estate agents: This Just In! Using the phone can result in talking to someone - 10/21/09 06:05 AM
On Monday, my real estate office had an event called Callapalooza.  We had free food and sponsors put up prizes including a 42" TV.  The event was a great success in my mind and there was a buzz in the air.  We took some market share by doing this.  Let's not get too hung up on the fact that one commission check usually can buy two 42" TVs.
AHA's!
An AHA! is where you are doing something or seeing something and you think "AHA! I've got it."  The "AHA" that the agenst got is that the PHONE WORKS (as long … (13 comments)

real estate agents: Gwinnett's Real Esate Association to Host Evening with Neal Boortz to Talk about Fair Tax - 09/27/07 05:24 AM
As a member of NAMAR (NorthEast Atlanta Metro Association of Realtors), the local Association in Gwinnett, I received this announcement.  Maybe they weren't aware of the RPAC's (Realtor Political Action Committee) quiet opposition to the Fair Tax:

Do we really give (it's taken in some states) money to an organization that has … (0 comments)

real estate agents: Freedom: Are Realtors Really Free? Attitude, Time and Balance - excerpts from Keller Williams Mega Agent Camp - 09/18/07 09:18 AM
Sales is a head game, so you have to be in control of your thoughts and your attitude. Especially in this market. If you don't have one, develop a written business plan. This starts with determining how much money you want to make in a given time period. Then, you must determine how many contacts you need to make in order to get the number of appointments you need in order to get the number of listings and buyer agreements you need in order to have the number of closings you need in order to make your number....If you do not … (1 comments)

real estate agents: National Realty News Drudges Up The Past in Good & Bad Ways - 08/06/07 08:23 AM
I'm cleaning out my e-mail from over the weekend and I get this e-mail from National Realty News and the top headline is REAL ESTATE AGENT STABBED TO DEATH AT OPEN HOUSE.  Upon clicking on this link you get to read ... ONE YEAR LATER.
First of all, let me just say, we need more exposure to this kind of thing.  Self defense should be a require course for agents.  Open Houses, New Construction and just plain ole' new clients can all turn us into victims.  Realtors are seen as people with money and nice things.  My Wife reminds me of this stereotype everyday.  … (6 comments)
