Your Co-Worker Doesn't Sell Real Estate, Right? Then Please Listen! - 11/30/10 10:57 PM
Over the years, I have encountered a good number of clients who feel compelled to seek advice from a:
Co-worker Friend Cousin Random Person on the Street I'm not sure why it's okay to allow me (or any agent) to represent you professionally during your sale/purchase, but you want to double-check or seek new information from others about price. When it comes to a real estate negotiation, I promise you that I know what I'm talking about.  I have successfully negotiated many hundreds of sales since 1997, when I was first licensed.  Can your co-worker at Dell truthfully make this claim? … (69 comments)

Social Media Edge - TODAY at noon EST (VIDEO) - 11/16/10 09:49 AM
There's not much that I can add here that isn't covered in the video below.  I tried for several hours to get YouTube to process this one, then realized that Viddler would work just as well.  Hope you can join us tomorrow to hear Laura Fitton (@pistachio on Twitter).  She knows her stuff!  By the way, I just edited the title above - the show is always on Tuesday. :)

Hope you can make it, or catch the recording afterwards.
Thanks!

Do you have an extra 3 minutes to spare? If so, help my friend land a cool social media job for 2011! - 11/13/10 11:19 PM
Back in March, right here in Austin, I made a new friend during SXSW. His name is Nate Davenport, and he's a singer/songwriter from San Antonio. He was booked to play the after-party for a barcamp event that I had attended, and our paths crossed a couple of times during that week. We had lunch on the last day of the Interactive festival, and I saw him again once or twice after that. Since then, we've maintained contact via Twitter.
After spending some time with Nate, I learned that he's a good guy and a supremely talented independent musician. I have … (10 comments)

As someone who loves this stuff, I was intrigued by this statement, and I asked my friend, “Why is that?”
His answer was simple.  He said that he didn’t care about keeping up with people from high school on Facebook, or about what’s going on in their lives.  He mentioned that it seemed false to him.
This response made it abundantly clear that he didn’t understand what social media really encompasses.  Sadly, this is a not uncommon reaction to this still-somewhat-fledgling … (70 comments)

Zappos' "Delivering Happiness Tour" Hits Austin - Cool Stuff! - 11/03/10 11:25 PM
So, I don't normally get up early on Saturdays. In fact, I don't typically get up that early any of the other days, either, if I'm being honest.  I'm not really a morning person, I suppose.  This is one of the benefits of homeschooling and being self-employed.
This past weekend was an exception for me.
I was invited to attend a talk/event that made it worth getting up before the sun. Tony Hsieh, CEO of Zappos. was speaking as part of the "Delivering Happiness" bus tour across the country.  It was organized by the Austin chapter of the American Marketing Association, … (11 comments)
