austin: Are you in Austin this week? Come meet us for lunch! You are cordially invited. - 08/26/09 06:42 PM
Several of my ActiveRain friends contacted me this week about meeting during the Keller-Williams Mega Camp event. Today, I had a chance to meet with Marie Westerman, and tomorrow I am meeting Ryan Shaughnessy for lunch. If you are in town over the next few days, I would love to meet you! You are welcome to join us for lunch tomorrow near downtown Austin at Chuy's on Barton Springs. We are planning to meet at around 12:15 - 12:30pm. Go ahead and call me on my cell phone if you think you would like to come, just to make sure we

austin: ActiveRain Gathering in Austin Yesterday - The 20th Anniversary of my 18th Birthday Party! - 08/18/08 01:32 AM
Before I write anything else about yesterday's gathering, I want to express a hearty "THANK YOU!" to those who attended. When I started seriously thinking about having a get-together a few weeks back, I never would have imagined that it would have turned out so well and so well-attended. We had about 70 people there! My actual birthday is today, and I am pretty tired from playing host. I think the venue that I chose ended up being the perfect setting for this event. Also, the weather was great for mid-August, as it was the coolest day in months (overcast but

austin: Austin Has Some of the Cleanest Drinking Water in the Country - Forbes.com - 05/22/08 11:09 AM
Forbes.com has named Austin as having the second cleanest tap water in the U.S. in its recent study of the largest metro areas. Des Moines, Iowa was rated #1. The study covered 77 MSAs (Metropolitan Statistical Areas) across the country. The ratings were based on several factors: cloudiness of water (turbidity) bacteria haloacetic acids lead The Austin-San Marcos area showed some of the lowest levels of lead, turbidity and haloacetic acid. austin: Crazy Weather in Austin This Week! - 02/26/08 11:27 PM
There is an old saying in our state, "If you don't like the weather in Texas, wait five minutes - it'll change!". This is sometimes completely true, and never more so than this week so far. Yesterday, my mom was in town, so we took the kids out shopping and to lunch at Chuy's, where we had some of their incredible creamy jalapeno dip. My mom hadn't tried it before, so she was in for a special treat. While we were out, we commented on how unseasonably warm it was. Everyone seemed to be in a great mood - the shoppers,

austin: Halloween Memories - Childhood to the Present (Not as Long as it Sounds) - 10/29/07 06:31 PM
I was thinking about Halloween today, since we have some neighbors who seem to be seriously over-the-top with their decor for this "holiday". My wife informed me that they had placed rubber heads on pikes on either side of their sidewalk. Sure enough, there are some relatively lifelike severed heads there, not too far from my driveway and my small, impressionable children. I was tempted to call the HOA, but I haven't decided yet. There are only five homes on our street, and I don't want to seem like a party pooper, but dang! At any rate, I was ruminating about

austin: "High Property Taxes, Heat, and Tornadoes, TOO? Why would I want to move to Austin, Texas?" - 10/24/07 10:03 PM
As a real estate broker in Austin, I have found that there are a few questions that typically surface when I am speaking with someone who is looking to relocate to this area. I thought it might be a good idea to address some of these head-on, in an effort to educate. Also, I wanted to touch on some of the reasons that I call Austin home. Property Tax: Yes, real estate property taxes are high here in Austin, but we have no state income tax in Texas. Property taxes are used to fund our school districts, city

austin: Round Rock - Pflugerville Market Report - 08/13/07 01:55 AM
According to the Austin area MLS, the average price in the Round Rock area increased by $16,273 for June 2007 from the same period last year. For Pflugerville, prices increased by $17,748. For both areas taken together, there were 69 fewer homes sold for June. June was slower overall for Austin's market, primarily because of the near-constant rains over the past 60 days. Large projects in Austin are behind by 45 days or more. Hopefully, the selling season will extend longer than average this year, since many potential buyers delayed purchasing while waiting for the weather to abate. Austin Texas Real Estate Round
