fun: Sharing the "Stories of My Life" With my Kids - 11/07/08 02:13 PM
Our kids' bedtime routine has long been my domain, as it were. My wife homeschools our three kids, so she doesn't get many breaks. When it's time for bed, I am in charge of getting the two older kids ready, including the tooth brushing, stories, prayers, and tucking them in. Sometimes, it involves keeping them in their rooms, or getting a snack or drink for my daughter, who seems to require less sleep than the rest of us. We had gone through a period when they didn't want me to read to them, but then they suddenly showed renewed interest in having "story time"

fun: Nightswimming - 05/19/08 10:35 PM
So, we finally broke down and made a family schedule today. It's not etched in stone, but it covers all of the bases. My wife Pam was the one who organized it, as it had been a long-standing goal of hers, ever since we had our third child. Our instructions were simple: "Write down what you have to do each day, along with things that you would like to do." fun: An Evening Bike Ride with my Son - 05/17/08 11:30 PM
I recently wrote about my son learning to ride a bike (My Son Can Ride a Bike Now! Way to go, Brandon!). He learned to ride on April 30th, and since then he has become a very fast study. The only time that he has fallen was when he attempted to wave at the camera on his second day. Since he is getting better and faster each day, it was inevitable that I had to get my own bike tuned up and ready to go. I took it to Buck's Bikes in Round Rock, and I was pleasantly surprised that they

fun: Texas Jumping Beans - A great place to take the kids! - 12/12/07 01:58 PM
Texas Jumping Beans has become the birthday party destination of choice for our kids (we had my son's party there yesterday afternoon). We have had four parties there so far, and it's still tons of fun for all of us. There are about eight to ten very large inflatable "jumpers" (hence the name). They change them out pretty regularly. Yesterday, during our visit, there was a jumper shaped like a pirate ship, and another like a long train with an obstacle course inside. They also have a large inflatable slide, which is where the kids tend to congregate most often. With

fun: Family Fun in Austin, Texas - 10/31/07 02:36 AM
Austin was named #1 on the list of "Best Cities for Relocating Families" last year by Worldwide ERC and Primacy Relocation, and with good reason. There is so much fun stuff for families to do here. With thanks to my beautiful wife, who helped me compile this list, I wanted to give some examples in order to illustrate the diverse fun things to do with your kids if you are visiting or moving to the Austin area: Austin Children's Museum A fun, educational stop for the whole family. Regular science and cultural exhibits on the level of small children through tweens. Admission is
