I have lived in Pflugerville since 1995, when my wife and I bought our first home here. In 2002, we opted to buy our second (much larger) home in this area, too. What made us choose to stay?
Affordability - we have a home that would likely cost at least twice as much in central Austin Convenience - with the advent of the toll roads in 2006, we can get just about anywhere in 15 minutes, including the Prime Outlets/IKEA area, Georgetown, Mopac/Spicewood, etc. It's quiet It's safe I would talk about the schools, but we haven't had first-hand experience with … (14 comments)

My wife and I purchased our first home in Pflugerville in March of 1995. At the time, we had been married a little over two years, and I was 24 years old. We had no children then. One reason that we chose Pflugerville was its affordability. I was working as a restaurant manager for Souper Salad, and frankly the income wasn't that great. As a 12-year resident of Pflugerville (and with 19 years in the general Austin area), I have watched this town grow from about 9,000 residents to over 30,000 presently. The Falcon Pointe subdivision is located near the intersection of two major new arteries (SH-130 and 45), which are both toll roads. I live in the adjacent community (Blackhawk), and I have been impressed with this new development, which features new and resale homes priced from the $170's up to the mid-$300's.

I just listed a home in Pflugerville that was referred to me by my inspector friend (who is going to join AR soon). It was built in 1998, and it has 3 bedrooms and 2.5 bathrooms. All of the bedrooms are upstairs, and the master bedroom is HUGE. The upstairs carpet was replaced a couple of days ago, and the downstairs carpet was replaced last year. It has 1939 s.f. per the local tax records, and the lot backs to an easement area, so there is more space between this house and the neighbors behind it.

Having lived in Pflugerville for over 12 years now, I have seen huge changes in this Austin suburb. We bought our first home here in 1995, and our second home in 2002. We stay here because it is quiet, safe, and inexpensive. With the advent last fall of two new toll roads which travel through Pflugerville (45 and SH-130), access to Austin has never been easier.
There are several nice (and affordable) subdivisions to choose from, including Blackhawk, Falcon Pointe, and Villages at Hidden Lake. Prices range in these areas from the $160's to the $360's.
