The Jason McKay scholarship honors his memory and sacrifice by helping students enrolling at MSJC (Mt. San Jacinto Community College) to become firefighters, EMTs or other first responders.
The scholarship gives up to $500 to students that can be used for education and equipment. For example, the types of boots that a firefighting student needs can cost about $250.

Here's a fun event that will help out someone special in our community.
The local real estate community (real estate agents and affiliates) is having a bowling fundraiser to come along side our friend Val Boone and to honor her husband Cliff's memory with a good time.
Cliff was a Realtor at Coldwell Banker Kivett-Teeters in Hemet and a Veteran of the Vietnam War. His sudden passing was a real loss for our Valley.
The event is Friday, June 27th from 3pm-6pm at the Hemet Lanes Bowling Center and the cost is $25 per person.

The Hemet Zoo is now home to animals not found anywhere else in nature!
Okay, there is no Hemet Zoo...but my son Kyler shared a fun web site where kids can learn about animals while creating their own. It's called Switcheroo Zoo.
If I were Jeff Turner, I would have a cool video that shows you how it works. Instead, I just have pictures of the animals that Kyler and I made.

Yesterday was Valentine's Day, and we had plans to date at home (it's hard to find a babysitter on Valentine's Day). After returning to my office from some out of office appointments, I found on my desk a creative note from my wife. It's a huge 'to do' list with all sorts of crazy things on there. And tacked to the front of it is a note that says "Drop everything and go to Serenity Spa for a massage at 6pm."

Habitat for Humanity Hemet/San Jacinto held the Diamond Valley Lake Marathon last Saturday, January 19, raising money to build affordable housing for people in our corner of the Inland Empire.
There was a marathon, a half-marathon and a 5k run.
The Hemet Home Loan Guy was there with his wife, kids and friends from the real estate community. Hemet and San Jacinto Valley Arts and Crafts Showcase is this Saturday, October 13 from 11am to 4pm at The Farmer's Corner (Corner of San Jacinto & Menlo). There will be arts, crafts, vendors, things for kids to do and live music.
The craft fair benefits T.H.E. Center (Therapy for Handi-Capable Equestrians) and is co-sponsored by the Hemet-San Jacinto Association of Realtors and the Hemet-San Jacinto Valley Chamber of Commerce.

Hemet artist Kyler Aszterbaum will be featured at Scout Los Angeles' Private Debut Trunk Show this Saturday, October 13 at 9pm. Here you can see two of Kyler's recent designs on model Vanessa Traina (daughter of romance novelist Danielle Steele) and independent film goddess Miranda July. The Hemet-San Jacinto Association of Realtors annual bowling tournament and scholarship fundraiser was a great success yesterday, and here are the videos and photos to prove it!
The theme was Wild West, so folks came decked out in their cowboy hats and bowling boots to listen to country tunes and raise money for college-bound high school students in Hemet and San Jacinto. I don't have the final count yet, but it looks like we raised approximately $2,500 for the scholarship fund. Schools that benefit from the HSJAOR scholarship fund include:
