things to do in hemet: Movie Review: Traitor (Now playing at the Hemet Movie Theater) - 09/01/08 11:39 PM
When I go to see a movie, all I want is a great story, powerful performances, a few laughs and a way of looking at the world that challenges my mind. Is that too much to ask? :) Okay...that is too much to ask of every movie, I know. But in this case, Hollywood has delivered. Traitor is a pulse-pounding thriller. But it's more than that. It's the story of a man of faith (Hotel Rwanda's Don Cheadle) stuck in the middle of the war on terror. I was shocked that critics were 'meh' on this movie. I was riveted. It worked

Here's a fun event that will help out someone special in our community. Cliff was a Realtor at Coldwell Banker Kivett-Teeters in Hemet and a Veteran of the Vietnam War. His sudden passing was a real loss for our Valley. things to do in hemet: Bizarre Animals Only Found At Hemet Zoo! (A Fun Thing To Do With Your Kids) - 05/31/08 11:52 PM
The Hemet Zoo is now home to animals not found anywhere else in nature! Okay, there is no Hemet Zoo...but my son Kyler shared a fun web site where kids can learn about animals while creating their own. It's called Switcheroo Zoo. If I were Jeff Turner, I would have a cool video that shows you how it works. Instead, I just have pictures of the animals that Kyler and I made. Here's one from Kyky that I call "The Yellow-Breasted Chizzard." I always love having comments on my blog. But what I

things to do in hemet: River Springs Charter School in Hemet - FKA Eagle's Peak - 02/29/08 02:25 AM
River Springs Charter School is a parent-choice school that my children are enrolled in. It's like having one foot in the public school system and two feet in homeschool. That's right...It's like having three feet! I posted an original article about the school called Homeschooling in Hemet? River Springs Charter School Offers Alternative, but they've updated their website and so I thought I'd provide that. If you're considering home schooling and live in Hemet, San Jacinto, or the surrounding areas, learn about this unique alternative by clicking on the school crest to the right. things to do in hemet: President's Day, Fragile Democracy, and a Good Book - 02/18/08 01:20 PM
Democracy is more fragile than we often suppose. Look at the troubles in Iraq, Afghanistan and Russia. And it wasn't long after the French Revolution that Napolean reigned unchecked. What about in our own country? Today is President's Day. Just about the only way we celebrate this holiday is by kicking off of work. But it's also an election year, and there are many challenges in our country and around the world to democracy and freedom. May I suggest some reading? Washington: The Indispensable Man Following the Revolutionary War, what had happened in France could very well have happened in the newborn United States of America.

things to do in hemet: Thoughtful Wife + Valentine's Day = Serenity Spa in Hemet - 02/15/08 11:13 AM
Jolynne is the best. Yesterday was Valentine's Day, and we had plans to date at home (it's hard to find a babysitter on Valentine's Day). After returning to my office from some out of office appointments, I found on my desk a creative note from my wife. It's a huge 'to do' list with all sorts of crazy things on there. And tacked to the front of it is a note that says "Drop everything and go to Serenity Spa for a massage at 6pm." The mortgage business has been crazy recently, with prices dropping, loan programs changing and interest rates going up and

things to do in hemet: Movie Review: U23D - 01/28/08 02:39 AM
National Geographic and IMAX theaters typically partner up for films about immoveable objects or forces of nature. The Grand Canyon. The Pacific Ocean. How fitting that their newest film features the band U2, the lads from Dublin, Ireland that have been churning out a steady stream of innvotive, arena-ready post-punk for 30 years. U23D is unlike any concert film before it. The 3-D technology that is used in the film, brought to us by a company called 3ality, is as different from your last 3-D movie as playing in the band is different than listening to it. I'm not into the gimmicky 3-D films and

things to do in hemet: RUN HOME! The Diamond Valley Lake Marathon - 01/26/08 01:54 AM
Habitat for Humanity Hemet/San Jacinto held the Diamond Valley Lake Marathon last Saturday, January 19, raising money to build affordable housing for people in our corner of the Inland Empire. There was a marathon, a half-marathon and a 5k run. The Hemet Home Loan Guy was there with his wife, kids and friends from the real estate community. We participated in the 5k run...which was more of a walk when we found out that no strollers were allowed! Half the time I carried Ellie on my shoulders or arm. It was a beautiful, cool day for a family stroll around the lake and

The Hemet-San Jacinto Association of Realtors annual bowling tournament and scholarship fundraiser was a great success yesterday, and here are the videos and photos to prove it! The theme was Wild West, so folks came decked out in their cowboy hats and bowling boots to listen to country tunes and raise money for college-bound high school students in Hemet and San Jacinto. I don't have the final count yet, but it looks like we raised approximately $2,500 for the scholarship fund.
