wordpress: WordPress 2.5.1 Upgrade a Complete Success or Is It - 04/28/08 07:04 PM
I hesitated upgrading to WP 2.5 for a few weeks and when we started making Listings by Address Blogs we were using WordPress 2.5 as a new install as opposed to upgrading from an already used blog.
I really liked the dashboard and the way you can upgrade your plugins within the plug-in directory as opposed to using ftp to upload your files. Uploading different types of media is now a breeze and when Monika mentioned how much she liked WP 2.5 I knew I had to bite the bullet and upgrade.
I first tried to upgrade my Real Estate Golfer blog … (12 comments)

wordpress: Moving Domains and Blogs can be a Nightmare - 03/30/08 08:19 PM
I've been buried in a moving nightmare...Nope not selling my house and moving but moving our website and blogs over to our new server Blue Host.
Blue host has been great as I wrote in a previous post WP.org to hell and back but my old web host company has been less than average...guess that's why I'm leaving them.
Anyway it's been a long weekend and our main blog NewHampshireRealEstateBlogs.com is still not up. I think I have everything else pretty much under control, at least I hope.
I certainly have learned a lot in the last few months and now I'm starting … (25 comments)

wordpress: How to Create a Favicon for Your Blog or Website - 03/28/08 06:05 PM
Favicons are those little icons you see in the address bar next to the http:// at the top of a web page.

I always wondered how they were created and placed in the address bar. I stumbled upon it and decided to create my own from an image I have on my computer. You can actually use any image you want or you can find free ones availble on the net.
I used the following website to create our Favicon you see above.
Or you can go to Favicon Generator and create yourself one.
Once you download your Favicon you will need to unzip the file and … (30 comments)

wordpress: Windows Live Writer Copying Tables into your WordPress Blog - 11/25/07 03:11 PM
David A. Podgursky, mentioned he uses Windows  Live Writer to import tables into his blogs. I have heard of it but I just didn't get around to using it. So per Dave's advice I decided to download it and install and give it a whirl.
I am using Windows Live Writer to show statistics on my blog and using this new tool makes it a lot easier and you can also use Windows Live Writer to post content on your blog.
The first video below will show you how to use WLR to add content to your outside blog.
This second video shows you how … (40 comments)

wordpress: Blogging anniversary one year and counting - 11/03/07 11:27 AM
A year ago my wife Monika came to bed and woke me up from a sound sleep asking me if I could upload her picture to her blog. She says I just rolled over and said "OK". When I woke up the next morning I went to her computer to find out what she had gotten herself into. While she snoozed away I found she had opened an account with Realtown. That started the beginning of our blogging as she caught the bug and she and I haven't stopped.
There was so much to learn and so little time. Familiar saying … (22 comments)

wordpress: Creating a podcast in Wordpress - 10/24/07 02:06 PM
I had been trying to insert a podcast in our wordpress blogs New Hampshire Real Estate Blog for a while now with no success. Until I found Mediacaster over at Semiologic's blog. I read through the directions and decided to download the plugin and activate it to see if it would work. I was surprised at how easy it was to use. I had tried a couple of others with no luck.
You will need a few things to start your podcast. One thing you should get is a halfway decent microphone. I have the Logitech clear chat comfort headset. I purchased … (15 comments)

wordpress: WordPress: Image Alignment In Code View Part II - 10/15/07 10:51 AM
I was reading Cheryl Johnson's post WordPress-Image-Alignment-In-Code and thought that was a good way to align pictures.
However, when I went to add another theme to my already list of twenty thousand themes in my wp-content themes folder I found a pretty slick way to make the images align a different way. I have learned a lot by going to Chuck Pearson's blogsite.
He says the following:
Once you’re in the code view, the first thing you need to do is locate the img tag for the image that you want to change. You should find something that looks like this:
<img src="http://path/to/your/image" … (8 comments)

wordpress: Point 2 Agent and Static Websites make them come alive - 10/11/07 03:17 PM

I recently read a post by Cheryl Johnson about how to feed your static websites with more content without doing much work. I really thought it was a great tool as I knew I could do a lot with it. We have a few static pages out there so I thought it would be a good idea to help them along with content. So I took our WordPress blogs, that I have so painstakingly worked on and grabbed their URL feed or RSS Feed and pasted them into our Point2 Agent website.
I do not know if this will help your … (20 comments)

wordpress: WordPress.org Internet Explorer and Firefox not playing well together - 10/08/07 08:27 PM
Most of you know about my frustration last week with the upgrade to WordPress 2.3.
Well now I have another issue. I am having problems formatting pictures in my post. They look just fine in Firefox web browser but when I open up I.E. they look like crap.
If you want to see crap take a look at New Hampshire Real Estate with Jay McGillicuddy make sure you have IE open and you can see the 2nd graphic is pushed way to the right. The main content holder will support 520 px width and this graphic falls in line with that. I have … (23 comments)

wordpress: WordPress.org to Hell and Back - 10/04/07 10:27 PM
Well, it's been an awful week as it goes in the WordPress world. It also didn't bode well for having a happy wife either.
Monika's wordpress blog went down just after I had upgraded to version 2.3. She was not a happy camper. The initial error message that I received was "
"ERROR: WordPress requires Cookies but your browser does not support them or they are blocked."
After that I contacted my web-hosting company and submitted a "support "ticket", well after 13 hours of not hearing anything from them I finally went online and entered into a chat with one of the support … (63 comments)
