Hi again fellow Active Rainers. As ayou are all aware I haven't posted for ages. I've been rather busy building on my on-line marketing skills. And I've gotta say that since I lasted posted on Active Rain I've come a heck of a long way. My Search Engine Optimisation (SEO) skills are very good now, in addition to this I've learnt the art of Pay Per Click (PPC) too, and my xhtml and css have come on leaps and bounds. As I've always promised my fellow Active Rainers: "I really don't mind answering any online advertising questions anyone has!" 5 Things to remember about back-links

I thought for all you website owners it would important for you to know about back-links, so I'm going to publish some valuable information here for you.

Back-links are one of the most important factors when trying to attain a higher ranking for your selected keywords in the search engines. My experience teaches me that if we don't have a specific amount of in-bound links to our site, then it very complicated to get high rankings for selected keywords.

You don't simply need back-links; you need quality back-links. 10 in-bound from relevant and high page rank websites are far better than 200 back-links from irrelevant and poorly ranked websites

Read on below to see what sets high quality and poor quality back-links apart from one another.

1. Selected keyword/key-phrase in the link text

Say we want to rank higher for a search query such as "cheap properties" then the links pointing back to our site ought to draw on precisely them words. The words that are used to link to our site influence the way search engines rank our sites.

Ensure that the words used to link back to your site are the words that you want to attain a higher position in the search engines for.

2. Links from relevant pages are best

In-bound links from a high page-ranked and relevant website are far superior to in-bound links from low page-ranked and irrelevant websites. Incoming links from low page-ranked and irrelevant websites do not actually harm your website and do actually carry a little weight; however Google prefers back-links related to your site more.

3. The link should go to a relevant page on your site

If "cheap properties" is to be the link text, then you ensure that the back-link points to a page that has the words "cheap shoes" on it.

If the keywords in the back-link correspond with the content of the page they are pointing back to then it's more probable that you will rank higher for those keywords.

4. Authority site links are best

Websites with high Page-Ranks have a much more valuable link than one from a website with nil page-rank positive effect on the rankings of your own site.

The affect of these links is so positive that it even helps your sites page-rank improve as well as push your selected keywords up the organic search rankings.

Sadly, no one other than Google themselves know what page-rank they actually use, the Google Page-Rank indicator that we see in the Google toolbar just provides us with a guesstimate of how highly Google ranks your site.

There are many who would say that the page-rank indicator is nothing but a gimmick, however in my humble opinion it's nice to get a small idea of what Google thinks of my site.

The simple fact here is that even just to have a page rank of 1 or 2 is difficult, and you can forget about seeing a page rank of 8 or 9 unless you're Google, Yahoo!, MSN, or a Government Organization. So don't pay no attention to those people who say that page rank is irrelevant.

5. No-follow attributes are a hindrance

The no-follow element in html tags tells search engines that they should not follow a link. Back-links with that feature attached to them are not in the least bit helpful to your search engine positioning.

Adversely, to find out if your link partners are using a no-follow attribute you need to check the HTML code of the page from where you should partners they use a no-follow attribute to link to your site.

A couple of questions for you fellow Active Rainers; when trying to improve your Search Engine Positioning ask yourself this:

Is it necessary to submit my websites' details to the numerous regional Google directories? Or will a single submission to the Universal Google site suffice and index my site in the most relevant regions?

Well, the answer to this is, according to Google itself;

"Only a single submission to the Global Google directory will do."

Now that aside, has anyone ever thought about having their website measured to become a source of information for Google?

Do you favour a particular type of client as opposed to another when it comes to business?

You're not creating pages for the Search Engines, they're not ever going to be your customers/clients. Focus on your real potential customers. Give them what they're looking for throughout your site.

The searchers original search query would be a good place to start; make it imaginative, creative, original, unique and honestly appealing.

And only then you'll find that this is the motorway to everlasting victory.

Hi again Active Rainers! As promised I am yet again supplying you all with a little dose of Search Engine Optimisation knowledge. Iknow that the majority of you have your own websites and that you may need a little guidance when it comes to achieving higher search engine rankings. So here goes for now.

Stick to these basics and you'll see huge differences in just a couple of months.

10 Top SEO Tips

•1. Title Tag - One of the first things the Google bots look at when searching for relevant keywords in a website is the title tag, therefore it should contain keywords relevant to the page belonging to the title tag in question.

•2. Body Text - Text in the page bodies is second to the title tag when it comes to importance. Make sure you use your chosen keywords in your text and make sure you don't abuse keyword saturation, basically don't use each keyword on each page no more than about 3 times.

•3. Research Keywords - Take a bit of time out and do a bit of research and generate some keywords based on the product or service you offer and what your expected visitors might search for. Keeping this in mind, use keywords which are not too generic, ie, "men's jeans" is generic, men's Levis 501 jeans are more specific. This will then make it easier for you to compete for higher search engine rankings on your chosen keywords.

•4. Check for Design Problems - If you're using JavaScript, Flash, or any other type of Dynamic URL this may mystify the spiders which in turn would make them completely cause them to stop scanning through the site. Therefore try to avoid the use of such programming if possible.

•5. Keywords - Because of the quantity of opposition for general keywords it would a good idea to change the way you think and think of long tail key-phrases, 2 to 3 word phrases.

•6. Hyperlinks - Include your most important keywords/key-phrases within the hyperlink text, which is also known as the anchor text.

•7. Incoming Links - When choosing sites to link to be certain to only choose those sites that are industry related

•8. Use a Robots.txt File - Include a robots.txt file at the root of your Web site.

•9. Have a Sitemap for your website - All pages in your Web site should be linked to your site map. This lets the spider bots and your visitors to find content on your site swiftly and effortlessly

•10. No Spamming - Follow the guidance of Search Engine Optimization experts and don't try to get 1,000s of incoming links just because some one says that they're cheap. Google will see this as SPAMMING and will eventually see what's going on and might even ban you from their search engine. Stick to proven methods when building links.

You might find some of the tips a little hard to understand cos of the way I use my words, or they might just be a little too vague for you, either way get back to me. And yes of course, it's all free advice.

Maddys' parents should be charged with something!

I'm sure you all must've heard of the missing little girl Madeliene McCann. I need to air my feelings and views on the subject as I find the sight of her parents really annoying. So then, little Madeleine McCanns parents are now suspects. I had a feeling from the beginning of this whole saga that the parents look guilty. They just seemed too calm through this whole event. I've seen many people in similar situations, but these people were complete wrecks, like their whole lives were turned upside down, but these two people seemed so chilled and so relaxed, always looking sharp and smart. It now comes to light that the parents used to feed little Maddy mild sedatives to put her to sleep so that they could spend some time alone. How selfish!! Then the mother had the cheek to say that, "leaving Maddy in an appartment next door to a restaraunt, in a strange country, is no different from them leaving the child asleep in the bedroom while they have dinner in the garden at home". Erm......I don't think so you stupid, selfish woman, it's totally different! You're not even in the same property, you couldn't even see or hear Maddy, so it was nothing like being at home while the child was asleep upstairs. Personally I'm glad that the parents are now suspects. I think that they should be charged with something, even if they didn't murder Maddy. There should atleast be a charge of gross neglect slapped on there faces. Anyway, my thoughts and prayers are with little Maddy where ever the dear child is.

We musn't lose sight of the fact the parents did leave little Maddy all alone in an appartment. How Damn responsible. Lock them up and throw away the keys I say. DAMN SELFISH PEOPLE!!!

Does Everyone Know the Importance of Link-Building?

Personally, I don't think all website owners have a clue about SEO, link building, or the various types of link building strategies there are.
Link building is what is done in order to attain higher organic search engine rankings. It's not something that can be done over night, infact it is something that needs to be done regularly, steadily, and conscientiously. It is a process that could upto 6 months in order to move into the top 10 on the search engine for whatever keywords you may choose to target. You need patience.
There is of course another way of getting to the top of the page for search queries; this is done by paying to be there, and is known by the terms Pay Per Click, each time some clicks on your websites add, you pay the search engine a nominal charge which would've been decided by you bidding for what ever position you want your add to appear in, and would depend on how popular your target keyword was.
This isn't a bad way of directing traffic to your site if you're providing a speciallity service or unique products and can afford to fork out money just for someone clicking on your add whether or not you make a sale.
Given the choice between Search Engine Optimization and Pay Per Click strategies, I would always choose to work on SEO.
It's not easy, but then, it's not difficult either.
Like I said it all takes time, and you need to be patient if you want to see your site shoot up the search engine results.

2 Article Writing and Publication

3 Releasement of News Stories

4 Reciprocal Linking

5 Link Negotiations
This is a long process, which is why alot of firms will end up giving this work out to Internet Marketing firms such as Summit Media, who specialise in E-Marketing, and where I work.
You have to be very careful when doing SEO on your site. If you're not, then this could lead to your site getting banned by Google.
Like I said in my previous blog: There is both on-page and off-page Search Engine Optimization which should be done to a high standard in order to better Search Engine results.

I can't help myself fellow Active Rainers, I get really cheesed off when some people just can't see the bigger picture, like they are in this case. I have to air my views tofeel a little less frustrated, or else I'll drive myself mad.

What's wrong with the do gooders of this country, moaning about how cheap childrens school uniforms are?
Haven't these sad people got anything better to do?
I remember when I was at school, school uniforms costed an arm and a leg, it was ridiculous. Nowadays it seems quite possible to pick up a school uniform for about $10.00. Brilliant I say. So bloody what if some poor kid in a third world country is having to work extra long hours. They get paid a wage proportionate to their standard of living, they choose to do this work, no one forces them. I guess you could say that they are forced by fate, but never the less, in my opinion there's nothing wrong with buying one thing cheaper than buying the same thing for a higher price.
Don't get me wrong people, I do feel for these people and children but the facts of the matter are that if I can buy something cheaper from Morrisons, then why the heck should I go to the corner shop and pay more of my hard earned cash for the same product? It just aint gonna happen!!
I'm sure I can't be the only one thinking like this.
Fair Trade they call it. Sod Fair Trade I say!!! They're all a bunch of theiving gits!! Collecting money under the umbrella of good causes, but how much out of each dollar or pound goes to the charity itself, and how much goes into the box marked ADMINISTRATION COSTS?
Another thing, all you people out there who believe in this Fair Trade garbage, stick with it, pay $50.00 for exactly the same product that I'll pay only $20.00.

And try looking at the bigger picture in future you good for nothing do gooders. There are plenty of people in our home countries who need TLC and support. Let's fix our own country before we start to worry about the worlds problems!!

How many Blogs is enough?

Hi again you great people. I haven't been posting much lately on this blog lately has been because I've been busy working. Well I'm not blaming it all on work, some of the blame must lay with the fact that I have got another 4 blogs on the go.

It appears to be as though there is no limit as to how many blogs you can create with Google, which is why I've ended up with 5 blogs, and now I don't feel like getting rid of them.
The difficulty lays with adding new content to them, thus regularly updating them, which helps pass regular traffic through your blog-site. If you never added new content to your blog, it would probably end up getting buried in the deepest of Google archives that ever existed.
It all started out as a new experience for me. I was new to the whole game of Internet, but now that I've been in it for a few months, I've realised that you're probably far better off having just 1 or 2 blogs and comitting yourself to them fully, rather than have 5 and then struggle to find content to add to them on a regular basis.
Alot of people create blogs for fun or to keep and share personal diaries with their families and freinds. However there are some people who use them to generate money from them. This is something that I'm not gonna get into at the moment, but worry not, because I will bring it up another time.
Meantime, I've gotta admit it's been emotional, and it's a really long week-end ahead of us. So all those who read this post have a great weekend.

Hi there you wonderful Active Rainers. It's been a while since I last posted something on this blog. And now I see my rankings have dropped a few places too. Ouch!! That hurts. All that hard work to see it all washed away just because I've been busy at work, learning about Search Engine Optimization (SEO).

I've learnt quite a fair bit about SEO since I was last on ActiveRain, and now I wanna share it with you all. By the way, my offer of if any one needing any advice on how to get more traffic to their website is still open, just leave a comment/message for me in the comments box or Email me directly and I'll help you out. Meantime enjoy the read, and tell me if you think I've come a long way since I last posted.

I feel it is that time again where I share a little something with who ever wants to listen.
It's now been about 8 weeks since I joined the SEO team here at <a href="http://www.summit.co.uk/">Summit Media</a>, and up until about 6 weeks of this time, all I knew about SEO was, Directory Submissions, Article Submissions, and Press Release Submissions.
Over these past 2 weeks I've learnt absolute loads about Search Engine Optimisation, both on-page and off-page.
And from what I gather, although it's very important to have good on-page SEO, it's still not as important as the off page SEO.
<strong>ON PAGE SEO</strong> seems like just a little job in comparison to off-page. It's just a case of going into the source code and using the heading tags properly, giving the page a relevant page title, not abusing the meta tags, not abusing the amount of keywords and keyphrases you use on on each page, and finally using keywords as anchor texts.
<strong>OFF PAGE SEO</strong>, from the stuff I've learnt so far, is pretty much all about link building, which is where the previous three activities (directory, articles, and press release submissions) come into action.
It's all about backward links I'm told, and funnily enough I've no reason not to believe these people who tell me this, backward links are like a vote, when someone links back to you it's like someone giving you a vote of confidence, and the more votes you have, the more google will give you credit, thus increase your page rank and send you up the organic search rankings.
Aah but it's not as easy as that to fool Google into thinking that you're really popular just by getting loads of back-links. Google will eventually find out that you've been using Blackhat SEO techniques to acquire these links, and will soon probably ban you from their search engine. So, although it's very important to have as many back-links as possible, it's even more important that you be careful as to from where you get these.
There are obviously more than just these 3 techniques of getting other sites to link back to you, but I'm not gonna go into it at this present time, as I've now run out of time. However I will share this info with you all on another occasion.
Before I go I have to give myteam leader Jerry Okorie a big shout as if it wasn't for him pushing me into doing things like keyword research and reading books books, I definitely wouldn't be as knowledgable as I am at the moment.

ACT YOUR AGE!!!

Act your age? What the heck is act your age? What do people mean when they say, "act your age"? How is someone of a certain age supposed to act? How does someone define when acting their age should be done?
Should one stop wearing 3/4 length trousers when they reach the age of 30-40? And when someone reaches the age of, say, 50, should they start wrapping up to stay warm and start smoking a pipe?
When I put this question to my friend, Demented Don, he said the following:
"Acting ones' age is an esoterical euphamism spawned by individuals who are inherantly anal."
"Their lives are ordered and they in turn expect other peoples' lives to follow this same bland pattern, devoid of free thought and ones' need to express themselves....be it visually or orally."
"Age is no reason to subscribe to this narrow minded train of thought just because certain individuals feel that they themselves might be embarrased by the colorful actions of those people who refuse to conform to a prescribed pattern of social beliefs laid down by past generations, and indeed some of todays generations."

Get Rid of Them!! Send Them Back!!

Yesterday (05.08.07) a man who appeared on the BBC Radio2 said that illegal immigrants shouldn't be locked up as they haven't committed a crime. I whole heartedly agree! Instead of locking these poor people up, we should grab them by the scruff of their necks, throw them on the nearest boat and ship them back to the country from whence they came. Or would this person, speaking on the radio, have us doing what he says, which is to just open up the borders and let anyone enter our country, and ask yhem no questions?

Frankly I think my suggestion is far better, as we would save millions of $$$s every year in taxpayers money, money which is used to feed, clothe, and keep these people secure can be spent where it is more needed, like helping single mothers, and re-housing the homeless to name just a couple.

Some Handy Tools for Website Owners

Hi again fellow ActiveRainers. Like I said, I will be sharing my experiences, giving advice to who ever asks, and tips to all who would like it.

Today I thought I'd give you guys a couple of really useful links, especially if you have your own websites.

By using these links you can retrieve some really valuable information back for your site, things like if you're using your keywords correctly, if your page is too big, and they even give suggestions as to what you should do to improve things.

Hello again people

I thought it's about time I updated my blog with my latest SEO experiences.
Today I've been compiling my monthly reports for my clients on what work I've carried out for them over the month of July.
The main duties I carry out for my clients are, general directory submissions, creating and submitting articles, and press releases, all of which play a key role in building back-links to your site, which in turn lets the search engines know that you have a popular site, which again in turn makes the likes of Google and others rank your website higher in the organic searches.
Today I also carried out a health check on a prospective clients site. A health check is basically checking how good your on-page and off-page SEO is. Obviously the better your SEO on your site, the higher you will rank in the organic searches.

Like I said people, if any one needs any advice about how to improve search engine rankings, just ask, don't be shy!

I've got a feeling some of you great people reading this blog out there might get a little bit P'd off after this, none the less I need to do this.

Ihave a serious confession to make. I don't work in real estate and I don't live in New York. Infact I work in the Internet business at <a href="www.summitmedia.co.uk" title="Link to Summit Media">Summit Media</a> as a Trainee Search Engine Optimizer, and I live in the United Kingdom.

I didn't want to Bullshit anyone but felt like I had no choice in the matter if I wanted to join such a great community.

It's all been a new experience to me. I haven't joined any other communities and certainly don't feel like doing so either. What I'll do to make up for telling porky pies is that if there's any one out there who isn't happy with the way their site's ranking in the search engines then I'll give them all the honest advice I can in order for them to achieve far better rankings.

Sometimes it's a far better option, as you know that they would've got the message.
But the bottom line is I would've rather had spoken on the phone.
As an old saying goes, "BEGGARS CAN'T BE CHOOSERS".
I guess I'm just grateful that I've got some form of contact with a loved one.

Hi all.

I just felt like sharing a few of my feelings with the world.

There are so many people who take the little things in life for granted.
To all those who might stumble across this piece of writing and have cared to read it, Take a step back and look at the bigger picture in life.
Think of all the things/people you most love in life and cherish them. Don't take liberties with them, don't abuse them, and don't take them for granted. Cos once they've gone they're gone for good, and the chances are that you'll be left with a bit of a heartache.
Trust me, I know!!!

I have to admit that my heart goes out to all those people inflicted with the worst floods anyone can remember in British History.
I find it disgraceful that a country so advanced and so rich, and not to mention, small and surrounded by water, has got very little in the way of defences from such disasters.
In my opinion this is nothing short of a disaster.
Thousands left homeless, without electricity, and with no clean water supply.
Such scenes remind me of the sufferings of people in third world countries such as Bangladesh. And of course the sufferings of the people of New Orleans.

Why is it that the rich people always get the free stuff and not the poor guy whos's trying to bring up a family and is struggling to make ends meet?
I mean things like free tickets to football matches, whenever you look into the stands there are always a few famous faces there, surely these ponces haven't paid for their tickets, they've just been given them for nothing. Surely they can afford them if they wanted to without having to cut back off of something else.
And like at boxing matches when yo see Ponces like Amir Khans dad and his Poncey cousin Manager sitting watching a fight at ringside, surely these ponces wouldn't be paying for ringside tickets, surely they can afford to buy the tickets, so why give them to people like these? Why not give them to someone who can't afford the tickets?
I think those who take these tickets for nothing, and those who give these tickets to these poncey snobs with no class, tickets, should all be ashamed of themselves.

It's at times like these when I see the poor people of an area struggling to come to terms with the bad luck fate has thrown at them, that I think to myself that all those wannabe green nutcases will also be hoping for a big 4x4,lorry, or helicopter to come by and rescue them from the floods.
They wont be thinking of the environment being polluted the, will they?
Somehow, I don't think so. All they'll be worrying about at that time is, their lives!!
It's becase of these NO GOOD DO GOODERS that us GOOD DO GOODERS are being robbed systemattically, all in the name of GREEN TAX.
