I watched the flag pass by one day.
It fluttered in the breeze.

Live Your Own Life

Be Authentic
Mean the things you say and do. Authenticity is not very common these days but when it is there, it shines through your words and actions and is very powerful for creating bonds with others.
Come Up With Your Own Sayings
Come up with your own quirky and original sayings. People will take notice and it may even catch on. By coming up with your own original sayings you stand out from everyone else who just uses clichés.
Leave Others Better Than You Found Them
Make it a habit to leave people in a better state then you found them. Happier, healthier, stronger, wealthier. This is a major way of being remarkable.
Help People Without Wanting Anything In Return
Volunteer to help other people out. Give some of your time, money or resources to help a fellow human being and expect absolutely nothing in return.

The Japanese are pretty good at this. They took a normal train and change it into the fastest train in the world (bullet train). Take a normal and existing concept and make an exceptional change to it.
Start a movement
People look for a leader, someone who takes charge and takes initiative. Someone who has good intentions and wants to make a big change for the better. Be that leader and start a movement to change something that is not right in this world.
Fight for peace and freedom
All around the world there is so much unnecessary war and suffering. It seems impossible for one person to make a difference, but if everyone thinks like that, things will never change. Stop a war or change violent policies of a country and you will be remarkable.
Preserve our planet
Rainforest's are being destroyed, species wiped out, oceans over-fished and beautiful ecosystems perish. Make a difference and start a movement to do something about the destruction of our planet.
Help the hungry
There are so many people dying of hunger all around the world every single day. Do something to make a lasting difference. One idea I had was to get every person travelling on a plane to forfeit their meal for the hungry. A combined effort by all passengers would result in thousands of meals a day that could be given to hungry people all across the world.
Push the limits (break a record)
If you can do something that nobody else has been able to achieve, then you will not only get noticed but you will certainly be remarkable. You may just be the psychological inspiration for many others to get past the level that was always thought of as unbreakable.
Revolutionize an industry
Waltz into an industry or niche with a great idea or new perspective and put that idea in motion. If you can improve or revolutionize the way an entire industry does something then you are pretty remarkable.

In practice it's not always easy, but one of the most exciting findings from recent research is that resilience, like many other life skills, can be learned.

8. EMOTION: Take a positive approach

Positive emotions - like joy, gratitude, contentment, inspiration, and pride - are not just great at the time. Recent research shows that regularly experiencing them creates an 'upward spiral', helping to build our resources. So although we need to be realistic about life's ups and downs, it helps to focus on the good aspects of any situation - the glass half full rather than the glass half empty.

9. ACCEPTANCE: Be comfortable with who you are

No-one's perfect. But so often we compare our insides to other people's outsides. Dwelling on our flaws - what we're not rather than what we've got - makes it much harder to be happy. Pinterest...what you should know...

Good Morning: Does Pinterest matter? Is it JUST another social network designed to slurp away our time? This month we offered an online training class on Pinterest, and we will certainly offer it again in April. In my opinion, it's still too early to tell if Pinterest will offer another way to gain loyal fans and followers of our personal real estate businesses but I would rather be ahead of the curve than behind it. Well, today I read an interesting article about a study done regarding the influence blogs, Facebook, Twitter, and Pinterest have over purchasing decisions. This article noted that, "More women said they have made a purchase based on a recommendation they saw on Pinterest than any other social media network." Wow! I hope you are moved to take the upcoming Pinterest class because it just might add a couple additional transactions to your pipeline this year. The Monday Morning Message for my Active Rain Members March 2012

GOOD MORNING:

Welcome to this edition of The Monday Morning Message .....This week and every week we have the opportunity to work on something of great importance. Something that is truly the most important opportunity we can work on. Do you know what it is? You. We must all remember that we must focus on making ourselves better each and every day. We are no different than we were yesterday except for the new ideas that we hear and create, the new people that we meet, the positive attitude we may have. The difference daily is that you either grow in knowledge, understanding, friendship, love, trust, or you do not. It is really that simple. You can always help others and you should every chance you can. You should also help yourself every chance you can. Do not let opportunities pass because you had your eyes closed. Do not let a day go by without growing in some way. Do not let life control you when you should be controlling your life. Let's make this the best week of the year!!!

ENCOURAGEMENT CORNER...

The Annoying Neighbor:

So it was I who took the old dog out, waited patiently for it to do its thing and then slowly walked it back inside again.

And always, without exception, before I managed to get back indoors the neighbor's door opened. And so it was this morning also. The dog was just too old to move fast enough for us to get in before the chirpy neighbor appeared. Besides, I was certain he was waiting for us to return because every single morning he appeared. The thought of a cuckoo clock came to mind...

- Ah! The top of the morning! his voice greeted me,

- A brand new day!

-...morning... I sighed.

He walked to get his newspaper, the dog stopped as always to wag his tail, and the neighbor, as always, took his time greeting the dog. They had a liking to each other, unfortunately. Now I wouldn't have minded it in the afternoon, but in the mornings I just wanted to crawl back to the cave I came from. At home they at least understood not to demand an answer from me before I had gulped down a big mug of strong coffee.

This morning he was humming a cheery song. "Oh what a beautiful morning" from the musical Oklahoma. That was too much.

- Aren't you a cheery person! I heard myself say in a tone of voice that would have made my mother shush at me.

- Oh yes! He gave the dog a last pat and stood up, - And for a good reason, too!

- What's that? I asked, almost smelling the coffee through the open kitchen window.

- Well you see I have a great adventure ahead of me! he said.

- Really? Where are you going? I asked, trying not to sound too hopeful. Perhaps he had booked a trip around the world with a bicycle...

- Into this brand new day! It's something I've never experienced before! he smiled,

- What could be more exciting than that?

Twenty Ways To Get An Offer Accepted

1) Offer above list price.

2) Have the buyer write an emotional letter stating why they want the property.

3) Ask the listing agent what they want to see in an acceptable offer.

4) Don’t bug the listing agent by calling hourly. Or Texting with CAPS

5) Offer to pay cash & submit a verification of funds.

6) Offer substantial earnest monies.

7) Make the earnest money nonrefundable.

8) Shorten inspection periods.

9) Offer to buy the property ‘as-is’.

10) Waive the appraisal contingency.

11) Offer to pay any HOA transfer fees.

12) Waive any qualifying contingencies.

Via ActiveRain Inspiration Station ~ Find Inspiration for your Blog (ActiveRain Corp.):

Eventually you are going to run out of ideas for what to write about in your blog. It may only be for a few days or a week, but at some point it's going to happen. Sure, eventually if you leave your blog abandoned for long enough, you'll come up some more ideas.

So maybe, in the meantime, you should consider going back and looking at a past post you've written and breathing new life into it. We are going to call this the Broker Bryant Theorem.

I was on the math team in high school and never thought I would be able to use the word 'theorem' again in my life. In fact, I'm not even sure this would be proper usage of the word. But Webster says:

theorem: an idea accepted or proposed as a demonstrable truth often as a part of a general theory

So our general theory is that blogging is a good way to educate your existing clients, reach potential clients you don't know yet and chronicle your knowledge of the industry and your market. So we are proposing the idea that bringing back your old posts to share again has value and is a demonstrable truth. Make sense? Yeah, it hardly does to me either, but let's go with it.

The reason we will be naming it after Broker Bryant is because he does this from time to time in his blog. The only person who knows if he does this because he is lazy, or because (in our dream scenario) he has too much business and is too busy to create new content for his blog is TLW, but I'm sure she is sworn to secrecy.

For today's inspiration, we challenge you to go back to your 'traffic' numbers for your ActiveRain blog posts and find a post that performed rather well. When looking at your 'traffic' numbers, you want to pay attention to the 'clicks' column. 'Clicks is the number of times the URL of your blog post has been loaded in someone's browser.

In this case, I'm really hoping that you focus on posts that were aimed at consumers and not your peers.

When you breathe new life into the post, are there things you could do better to make the post more appealing to someone reading it? Or maybe even more appealing to the search engines so more people are likely to find it?

Think in terms of formatting as you attempt to make it more appealing to the reader. Does the layout look professional? Do you use paragraphs? Do you have good white space around your images? Do things line up the way they should? Are there calls to action in the post? (links and/or buttons driving someone to an action)

From a search engine perspective, are you doing the things in your post that we speak about in our SEO training class? What? You've never taken that class or have gotten away from the using the techniques we talk about in that class? Check out the schedule to see when it's offered again.

In terms of the quality of the content........are there things that have happened since then that would require you to make some updates to the content itself? Did you find that you have posts that are getting a lot of traffic but don't seem to be helping your business? Maybe you didn't do a good enough job of proving that you are the expert on the subject. If you were the reader (possible client) would you reach out to you after reading your post? Do you make it easy for the reader to do this?

Breathe new life into that old post and see if you can raise the quality of your blog by revisiting an old blog post with a new set of blogging skills. Hopefully this will inspire you in some small way much the same as Broker Bryant has inspired us!

Welcome to this edition of The Monday Morning Message.....This week we have the opportunity to keep doing all the great things we have been doing and dump a few bad habits. Pick two habits that you are not happy with and stop doing them. Yes, cold turkey - just stop doing them this week. Maybe it is eating late at night. Stop doing it. We need to know what they are and chip away at turning them into good habits. After you stop doing your two bad habits this week, replace them immediately with a good alternative habit. My Last Open House…

I remember it well. The sun was shining. Birds were chirping. There were even the scent of freshly blooming flowers in the air.

I put signs up all over town. With balloons. Filled with helium. Matching the color of our company logo.

I stayed up for 2 days making cookies and cupcakes. Oatmeal, chocolate chip, snickerdoodles. I can still taste the pink icing and sprinkles. Yumm.

I took out a half-page ad in the local newspaper. Full color. Huge picture of me in the corner. Nice.

I knocked on every door for 75 houses in every direction. I started on a Tuesday. At 5:30am. Some people answered. Some didn’t. I was glad.

I wrote 37 blogs about it starting in the middle of Winter. Blogs with maps and directions. Blogs about amenities. Bedrooms. Bathrooms. Property lines. Types of grasses.

I paid for a marching band and a parade to lead people toward the house. It was expensive. But not as expensive as the hot air balloon rides and the Blue Angels flying overhead every 12 minutes. Man, are they loud!

I had everyone sign in. I made copies of their drivers licenses. I fingerprinted them. I even separated their kids from them to ask questions like “what is your mom’s cell phone number” and “if you tell me your address, I’ll give you a juice box.”

Did I mention that I held this house open for 72 hours straight? I also had a live feed you could watch online. I exercised in between customers. I drank a LOT of coffee. Three news trucks and a Congressman showed up. Not all at the same time, though.

In the end, I had 3 entire books filled with names, addresses, emails, phone numbers (home and cell), bank statements, pre-approval letters, birth certificates, you name it.

1,700+ potential clients.

Not one that I ever sold a house to.

Challenges to Pursue

Review your performance.

Here’s what my father said, "Always do more than you are paid for to make an investment in your future."…Review your performance—your language with your children. Say, "Have I been too harsh, too strong, too stubborn? Should I have learned to be easier and mixed more compassion with the tough stuff I have to deal with?" And yes, prayer will help. Ask for help to say the right thing, not to ruin it all by poor communication.

Face your fears.

That’s how you conquer them. Don’t dismiss them; face them. Say, "Here’s what I’m afraid of. I wonder what I could do to change that."

Exercise your willpower to change direction.

You don’t have to keep doing what you’ve been doing the last 6 years if it’s not yielding the benefits you want.…Pick a new destination and go that way. Use your willpower to start the process. You don’t have to repeat last year. Clean up the errors. Invest it now in the next year. Watch it make the difference.

Admit your mistakes.

Sometimes you have to admit them to others.…Here’s some of the best phrases in the English language, "I’m sorry." The reason those are good words is because they could start a whole new relationship. It could start two people going in a whole new direction. Simple, not easy.…Here’s the big one. Admit your mistakes to yourself. You don’t have to babble about them to everyone in the neighborhood. But it doesn’t hurt to sit down and have a conversation with yourself and say, "There’s no use kidding myself. Here’s where I really am."

Refine your goals.

Start the process. Set some higher goals. Reach for some higher purpose. Go for something beyond what you thought you could do.

Believe in yourself.

You’ve got to believe in God and you’ve got to believe in the community. You’ve got to believe in the possibilities. You’ve got to believe in the economy. You’ve got to believe that tomorrow can be better than today. Here’s the big one. Believe in yourself. There isn’t a skill you can’t learn; there isn’t a discipline you can’t try; there isn’t a class you can’t take; there isn’t a book you couldn’t read.

Ask for wisdom.

This is communication of the highest source. Ask for wisdom that creates answers. Ask for the wisdom that creates faith to believe things are possible. Ask for wisdom to deal with the challenges for today and tomorrow, to deal with the challenges your family brings you. Don’t wish it was easier; wish you were better.

Live with intensity.

You might as well turn it up a notch or two. Invest more of you in whatever you do. Be a little stronger; be a little wiser. Step up your vitality contribution. Put everything you’ve got into everything you do and then ask for more vitality, more strength and more vigor, more heart and more soul.

Find your place.

If you just work on a job, find the best place you can serve well, and sure enough they’ll ask you to occupy a better place. And if you keep doing a job well, do the very best you can. That’s your best way out. Here’s a Bible phrase. If you work on your gifts, they’ll make a place for you.

Demand integrity from yourself.

Integrity is like loyalty. You can’t demand it of someone else; you can only demand it of yourself. Be the best example of loyalty, and you’ll get some loyal followers. Be the best example of integrity, and you’ll have people around you who have integrity. Lead the way.
