real estate: What does it take to build your Real Estate Firm? - 12/18/14 07:03 PM
The New York real estate mogul turned television personality Barbara Corcoran is every bit as succinct and quick on her feet in person as she is on the hit show Shark Tank.
What does it take to build a multimillion-dollar empire? Who better to ask than a women with experience as a bootstrapping entrepreneur and an angel investor who swoops in and saves struggling companies? Here are four lessons for achieving massive success, Shark style, that we learned from our conversation with her at the Four Points Sheraton in Norwood, Mass., after her recent appearance at a Greater Boston Real Estate Board event.

real estate: Find out why we are the fastest growing firm in New England - 11/11/14 08:22 PM

Now that the 2014 year is coming to a close, many folks will start sending out Holiday cards and other marketing materials.  Question why now?  And why do you not have a system to consistently send out cards of thanks, appreciation, birthday, anniversary, congrats etc....
Over the years, I have learned that being consistent is a skill and characteristic of the top 20%.  When I hear agents tell me that they want to get started with my system I ask them why now?  The easy answer is I have the money now and it is the right thing to … (3 comments)

real estate: The Power of Words by Jay McHugh - 03/03/13 12:54 AM
Kody Bateman, my mentor, has inspired me to take up the power of words. He is an example of how using words can lift one up or keep one down. He brings everyone up and I love that. The Power of Words should not be taken lightly by anyone.
For 30 years I have casually studied my family and friends on their use of words. I witnessed from a strong Irish background living in the turbulent times of Boston, that certain words could make a person wince. They could also start a family riot and cause members not to communicate with … (4 comments)

real estate: The Gratitude Challenge - 06/18/12 08:56 PM

The Gratitude Challenge is an excellent way to remind oneself of the importance of thanking and appreciating others.
When I speak around the country I am amazed how few agents have an Apprecaition Marketing campaign in place.
They are begging their clients to go elsewhere; they are begging their clients to search Google next time they need something; they are begging their clients for social indifference.
The Gratittuce Challenge introduces you to create a habit of Appreciation.
Take it; practice it; email me questions; let's see how your life and business … (5 comments)

real estate: Communicate rather than Selling...... - 11/22/11 02:05 PM
Like with most of my posts, I’d like you to take a step back and think as a consumer for a bit....
…Imagine you’re browsing Facebook on your own personal time, you’re not looking for a property, but you see that your local real estate agent is constantly posting his/her listings.  In fact, their entire Facebook Fan Page (or even worse, their personal page) is comprised of only their listings!!!  How likely would it be for you to stay as a “fan” of that agent?  Would that help them establish a personal connection with you?
Well, the fact of the matter … (0 comments)

real estate: Happy Veteran's Day Holiday and Thank YOU to all Veterans around the Globe... - 11/11/11 12:44 AM

Good Morning: In the years since our nation was born, veterans have given selfless service to their country in times of war and peace. At every critical stage in America's history, these men and women stepped up when they were needed, and their efforts to preserve the freedom we now enjoy made an impact at home and abroad.
Celebrate this wonderful day by offering thanks to a veteran and by spending quality time with loved ones.  Find time each and every day to practice selfless acts of kindness toward others.  Our freedom was built upon the shoulders of heroes.  … (4 comments)

real estate: Start your day with Words To Live By - 10/25/11 12:47 AM
WORDS TO LIVE BY...   They always say time changes things, but you actually have to change them yourself.   - Andy Warhol   Courage is going from failure to failure without losing enthusiasm.    - Winston Churchill   It is not length of life, but depth of life.    - Ralph Waldo Emerson Make failure your teacher, not your undertaker.   - Zig Ziglar
May you live all the days of your life.    - Jonathan Swift   The main thing is to keep the main thing the main thing.   - Steven Covey   Success usually comes to those who are too busy to be looking for it.   - Henry David Thoreau … (7 comments)

real estate: Jay McHugh using SendOutCards to great results.... - 07/15/11 03:51 AM
We all love to share on this platform....and recently I sponsored the "NEAR"  - The Northeast Association of Realtors in Westford MA with my SendOutCard business...Amazing how many folks have been introduced to the product/system but have not really dug deep into finding out how one can use the system effectively in the real estate day to day business.  Realtors and members came up to me saying, "You certainly have explained it much better than how it was explained to me Jay."  I was puzzled but can understand that unless you prove and show great examples it can be another … (1 comments)

real estate: Investments...some options to think about.... - 04/24/11 12:20 AM
News you can use to decide where you want to put your investment dollars. According to recent reports, lenders are ready to take back more homes in 2011 than any other since the U.S. housing meltdown began in 2006. About 5 million borrowers are at least two months behind on their mortgages and more will miss payments as they struggle with job losses and loans worth more than their home’s value, industry analysts forecast. “2011 is going to be the peak,” said Rick Sharga, a senior vice president at foreclosure tracker RealtyTrac Inc. The firm predicts 1.2 million homes will be … (0 comments)

real estate: RE/MAX Agents and Owners share ideas.... - 04/12/11 02:36 AM
In today’s real estate market we are seeing agents get super crafty when it comes to generating open house traffic. Agents, like Shirley Cunico, make sure that nobody driving by misses the house.  She says she doesn’t do this on every listing, but sometimes, especially small side streets, you have to bring attention to drivers from the main road.  What does she do?  Creates a buzz by having 25 or more balloons in the front yard during the open house...
Another RE/MAX agent schedules his open houses around the mass schedules at the local church.  During the mass he puts flyers … (6 comments)

real estate: Making sure you are adapting....Boston Red Sox/New York Yankees - 04/07/11 11:31 PM
Our real estate world is changing ever so fast.  As an example take this platform ActiveRain.  IN the beginning this one one of a few real estate platforms to help consumers and agents alike get out a Blog.  Now there are hundreds if not thousands of different choices.  I see experts telling us what to do and what not to do ... and it changes every 4-6 months.  Here is a tip that has worked for me.  Instead of just blogging on information that is good spice it up by engaging your readers through contests.
