Dear Real Estate: I Don't Love You Anymore - 01/25/11 05:28 PM
Do you remember your first time?
Look, Real Estate: I had a life before you. It was a GOOD life. A secure one. I had my paycheck and I was playing the field, not tied to anyone and it was nice.
I could come and go, hang out with my clients and not worry about getting home on time because I knew that money would be waiting for me, like that soft arm chair that I love to nap in on the weekends.
You've got to admit: Things have gotten monotonous and ritualistic. It's like we're just going through the motions. … (6 comments)

I Forgot to Listen. - 01/21/11 11:19 AM
Like a juggler with fifteen pins in the air at once, we've all become masters of the multi-task. Is it fun?... well, no. Is it how the life of a busy Realtor has to be?... well, not necessarily.
We're all busy, I get that. We are also overwhelmed with distractions. All. Day. Long.
Your email is interrupted by the office phone call, but you check that text as you're on the phone. Have you been there? I have! We read while we watch the game on TV, we talk on the phone when we're driving, we even think about other … (8 comments)

Your Web Browser Does That?? - 01/17/11 10:49 PM
I talk with a lot of agents who are new to the technology world. They use words like "overwhelm" and "complicated" or "next big thing" when we chat. Okay, maybe that's a tad true but when we embrace technology there is a world to gain.
One great example is our simple web browsing. Do you think it's a pain to open up Explorer (I sure hope you're still not using that, by the way... more on that later) and have to open your favorite pages: Facebook, ESPN and ActiveRain. That's a lot of typing, but there is an EASIER and more … (9 comments)

1/11/11 The Most Powerful Date... - 01/11/11 10:18 PM
These days don't come along too often, do they? January 11, 2011... 1/11/11...  I have a thing for numbers and have been tossing this date around in my mind for a couple of days now, trying to find some deeper meaning to it so I could write a great blog post about it.
I'm not sure why, but I think today will serve as the white stripe on the track that we all line up against, waiting for the gun to fire. The race is on TODAY and my finish line: November 11, 2011... 11/11/11. How poetic.
So what is the … (9 comments)

Indiana Jones and His Real Estate Lessons - 01/10/11 02:29 PM
The Wisdom from An American Hero Let's take a moment and take off our "Stuffy Boring Hat" and have a little brain aerobics, shall we? I love keeping my mind active, and I love GREAT movies! After watching one of the greatest of all time the other day, Indiana Jones and the Raiders of the Lost Ark, I thought, "Man, that has a lot of real estate principles in it. I caught the others on TV the other day with this idea in mind and here's what I pulled out from his his whip-cracking adventures:Use Simple WeaponsIsn't it fun to watch … (13 comments)

UNdress for Success... - 01/04/11 10:47 AM
Do you wear jeans or slacks to work? Golf shirt or tie? Who really cares?... The New Rules of Real Estate Etiquette: don't discuss politics, religion or how a Realtor should dress because you're sure to offend someone.
Well, I'm asking for it but here goes... (please comment and tell me I'm wrong... I can take it!)
First of all, let me say that you are free to dress how you wish, I really don't care. I would just like tell you how my mind has been molded over the last couple months.
Who Wrote the Rules? My business life before the … (97 comments)
