James Island Weekly Real Estate News: Home sales decline, but... As the prime spring home-buying season came to a close, Charleston's real estate market began to show some encouraging signs. Homes sold throughout the region totaled 732 in June, a 12% drop from the same month last year. James Island Real Estate buyers were just about dead even with the region's numbers. For the entire spring season, sales were off roughly 20% over 2008, or more than 40% compared to 2007. Some industry experts noted that more sellers have readjusted their expectation of their home value, which has brought prices down (0 comments)

James Island Weekly Real Estate News: Existing Home Sales Rise Sales of previously occupied homes rose modestly from April to May, but signs of recovery are fragile at best. James Island Real Estate sales show the same modest boost that the national numbers reflect. The National Association of Realtors said that home sales rose 2.4%, missing analyst expectations and sending the stock market lower. The key statement coming from this news came from Paul Dales, US economist with Capital Economics who wrote, "While activity has stabilized, a meaningful recovery has yet to begin." James Island Real Estate News: James Island Council Opposes I-526 Project The James Island town council voted unanimously to oppose any path taking the interstate through the town, potentially damaging plans for completing Interstate 526. Some consider this a bit damaging to James Island Real Estate, possibly limiting the access to an already hard to get to James Island. The DOT is evaluating options based on current population and traffic needs. There will be a series of public forums beginning at 6 pm on April 30th at West Ashley High Schools. James Island Real Estate News - Charleston Market Slides; James Island Numbers Far Ahead of Local Median Real Estate Results Homes in Charleston during January fetched a median price of $176,000, a steep drop from the December level of $191,000. But James Island Real Estate prices held with a median number just over $256,000. The last time the Charleston area experienced a median number this low was 2004. Ufortunately the number of transactions in the Charleston/James Island Real Estate market dropped an astounding 35% to 372 transactions.
