How The New Tax Credit Bill Works! - 07/31/08 12:47 PM
The new housing bill was signed into law on Wednesday, 7-30-2008. It's 694 pages long and most of it will not directly affect agents or our buyers. The information that follows was provided by Chris Thomas of Mortgage Support Services with his approval, Chris is located in Westminster, Colorado and can be reached at: 303-345-3683.The biggest immediate impact will result from the new tax credit that is available for first-time home buyers. First-time home buyers who have purchased a primary residence on or after April 9, 2008 and before July 1, 2009, will get up to a $7500 tax credit when they (3 comments)
Is Foreclosure Worth A Life? I Sure Hope Not - 07/30/08 04:34 PM
Of all the the foreclosures stories that I've heard or read about, the one from Taunton, Mass. saddens me the most. Maybe you've read about it. A 53-year old wife and mother who was facing foreclosure, shot and killed herself. On the day the auction was to take place, she sent a letter to her mortgage company saying that by the time they foreclosed on her home (that day), she would be dead. Upon receiving the letter, her mortgage company contacted the police. Her body was discovered 1 and 1/2 hours before the auction was to take place. Interested buyers were arriving at the (6 comments)
Free Prescription Drug Card For Arapahoe County Residents - 07/20/08 12:37 PM
A new "free prescription drug" card for residents of Arapahoe County allows a way to save on prescription drugs. With the rising costs of health care and medications, this card should be of help at the pharmacy. To use the NACo (National Association of Counties) prescription card, simply present it at a participating pharmacy. That's it! No enrollment, no membership fee OR limits on frequency of use. The card can be used by cardholders and family members anytime their prescriptions are not covered by insurance. The card offers an average savings of 20% off the retail price for commonly prescribed drugs. And is (0 comments)
Watch Out - Now They Are Stealing Your Gas! - 07/15/08 10:49 AM
I I was not aware of this, were you? When you use your credit card to pay for gas outside at the pump, your credit card information is stored in the machine until the next customer inserts their card! That enables the next person to use your credit card for their gas! What a surprise finding those additional charges to your credit card when you are balancing your credit card statement at the end of the month. The receipt you kept in the drawer doesn't match the charge to your account, because someone rang up additional gas charges to your account after you were (6 comments)
What Is Your Credit Score? - 07/14/08 01:14 PM
Slightly less than one third of all consumers know their credit (FICO) score - do you know yours? My last post was discussing this very topic, but it SO important that you know your score, I thought I would give it one more push! Let me see if I can grab your attention with a few more bullet points: Consumers could collectively save billions of dollars on credit card interest each year, by just raising their credit scores by small amount. Credit (FICO) scores range from 300 to 850. The lower the score, the higher the risk that the individual will not repay a loan. Credit (3 comments)
Protecting your FICO (credit) score is as important as protecting your identity and it is wise to monitor both! Do you know that you have a FICO score? Do you know what your FICO score is? How is it arrived at? How can your actions affect your credit score? How do you get a copy of your FICO score? Fair Isaac, the company that created the FICO score did so, to set a standard for predicting who's a good risk and who's a bad risk for borrowing money. Higher scores indicate a lower risk of default and are usually rewarded with lower interest rates, cheaper insurance premiums, (2 comments)
