random post: Date Night With My Wife - 04/21/12 08:40 PM
Unfortunately, this probably does not happen enough... but tonight my wife and I went on an official DATE. There is a group called 'This Side Up' (be sure to check out their site). This is a non-profit group that's motto is 'Taking families from Surviving to Thriving'. They do lots of great family activities, but once a month they do something special just for Mom and Dad. On the first week of the month, you go to their site and basically 'take a ticket'. You don't bid, pay, or sell anything. All you do is CLAIM your number. That is because they only (4 comments)
random post: Quinten's Game Day - Day 2 of my personal blogging challenge - 12/15/11 11:06 AM
This is day #2 of my personal challenge. As I mentioned when I started yesterday, my goal is to blog for at least 30 days straight. They say it takes 21 days to form a habit, so 30 days should really keep my on track. Today is Thursday, which is Game Day for my son. This is his last year of Middle School and his second year of making the basketball team. Last year he made the B team as a starter (there are three divisions in Middle School - A, B, and C teams). Over the past year he worked (11 comments)
random post: My Own Personal Challenge to Blog Daily - 12/14/11 10:29 AM
I see there is another Challenge out there which pushed some Activerain Bloggers to get into the groove again. Since I didnt see the challange initially, I decided that I need to have my own challenge to blog each day. So, for the next month, I'll accept my own Challenge to sign on and post a story or two. To keep it interesting, I'll be sure to mix it up between business and fun. Why a blog challenge? Its easy. When I was blogging a long, about a year ago, I was certainly seeing the benefits of blogging. I had Real (11 comments)
Today I am using my blog to sell my son's bed. Now that he is a teenager, he would like to keep things a little simpler. My son has opted to keep his mattress and place it on a bed frame. This Double Bed is in Great Condition. I'm not listing a price because Im pretty open on the price. My main point is to get it out of my Game Room at this point. The bed has 6 drawers, fits a double sized mattress, and is in great condition. The nightstand in the picture (11 comments)
random post: Texas Rangers - Not the only winning team in Dallas - 10/21/11 11:25 AM
Typically, everyone is pulling for the Dallas Cowboys... all year long... even during the offseason. So, its great when other Dallas Teams hit the spotlight. Takes a little pressure off of Tony Romo during the week.
I will disclose upfront that I am not a huge baseball fan, however, I always cheer for the home team. That being said, I am of course watching and pulling for the Texas Rangers ( who are now tied 1-1 with the St Louis Cardinals in the World Series). Im not sure if that qualifies me as a Band Wagon fan or not. (13 comments)
random post: Love meeting with other ActiveRain Members - 10/14/11 08:13 PM
Our virtual friends are not always are real friends. Sometimes we talk and talk online, but never really make the effort for some 'Old School' networking... you know, face-to-face. Last week I had the pleasure of having lunch with two Activerain Members. Kim Daugherty and Laura Barron. They are Broker/Owners of D&B Real Estate in McKinney Texas. AND... they are sisters! Here we are after lunch in front of their office, which is located in the center of McKinney Square. Very nice location and surrounded by lots of shops and restaurants. We ended up eating at Square Burger. This was my (18 comments)

random post: Why are 3D Movies a big deal right now? I can't be the only one thats not interested. - 08/15/11 01:49 AM
I am noticing that more and more movies are coming out as 3D. When it first came out a few years back, it made a little sense because they were based on action films where there were exploding items. But now they are even making movies that don't make any sense to be in 3D. The most recent movie I noticed was GLEE, which is a musical after all. Why would someone be interested in seeing a musical in 3D? I asked this question on FB and was actually surprised that many people LOVED it. Is this an experience that is just completely (11 comments)

random post: Sure I could just QUOTE you a rate, but it probably won't be accurate - 01/23/11 11:11 AM
Sure I can just QUOTE you a rate, but it probably won't be accurate. Will that be acceptable to you? Of course not! This post is sparked from a recent email inquiry I received. The email asked for a 3.5% rate on a 30 year mortgage. Thats right... 3.5% mortgage product. After asking a few questions and providing feedback on today's mortgage rates, the shopper insisted that I just provide the mortgage fees to get a 4.25% (at least this time he is closer to reality). Still, I try to understand the goals and their financial situation, but they were quite insistent on me just (16 comments)
random post: My hand is not in your pocket, so dont reach in mine. - 10/19/10 11:30 AM
This post is not meant for the consumer. My feeling is that you have all the right to ask me how much money I am making and you are VERY free to compare it with other companies. My comment "KEEP YOUR HANDS OUT OF MY POCKET" is meant for a Real Estate Agent I recently worked with. To avoid any conflicts, I did not want to post it during the transaction. Im a big believer in a Real Estate Agent being involved with the transaction. Its my job to keep them (and our client) informed of the transaction with updates throughout (62 comments)
random post: Baseball Fun Facts - 10/05/10 02:44 PM
Each month we receive a Newsletter within our company which recaps any company changes / information, i.e. regulation changes, investor guidelines, etc. Within this newsletter, they shared some fun facts about baseball that I thought I would share. At Boston's Fenway Park, amidst all of the green bleacher seats behind the right field bullpens lies one red seat, signifying the spot where Ted Williams' mammoth 502-foot home run landed on June 9, 1946. Yankee Stadium is known as "The House That Ruth Built" because it was Babe Ruth's popularity and drawing power that made it necessary for additional seats and gave the (5 comments)
random post: End of Week 3, start of week 4 - My experience with Bell's Palsy - 07/14/09 11:34 PM
I always like to preface that I know this is just a condition. Its something my body is going through and many many others go through as well. Its not a life threatening situation, nor is it a permanent condition. This past weekend was the 3rd complete week I've had Bells Palsy. Each week I have taken a few minutes to do a quick recap with how I'm feeling, if I've had any struggles, and shared a laugh or two. Thank you for taking the time to read up each week. It's easy to read the title and know that I (8 comments)
random post: I am an ActiveTwitFace... are you? - 07/12/09 07:01 PM
You can probably figure it out, but an ActiveTwitFace is someone that is addicted to ActiveRain, Twitter, and Facebook. I wake up in the morning about 7:15 and wake up my kids for camp. My son goes to YMCA and my daughter to a Horse Camp in Savannah. After waking them up and before I even start breakfast... I jump ONLINE and say good morning to my 3300 Twitter followers. As you know, or may not, when I update my twitter account it automatically updates Facebook. From there, I start some breakfast. A typical breakfast may include Smokies (sausage in croissants), Pancakes (12 comments)
random post: How many parents can say their son was drafted by the Cowboys? I can! - 07/11/09 06:00 PM
Well, there are 16 other sets of parents that can make this same statement... My son was drafted by the Cowboys! Alright, so I can't move into a bigger house yet since he is only 11 years old but its fun to say. This weekend we received an email notification from our new coach within the Frisco Football League (FFL). This will be my son's 3rd year playing in the FFL.
During the first 2 years, my son played for the Wildcats. GREAT group of kids and parents. We got together often after games so the kids became very (13 comments)

random post: My Second Week of Bells Palsy - Why do I insist on writing about it? - 07/06/09 11:49 PM
This past weekend marked the second full week I've had Bell's Palsy. I decided each week I'd provide an update on how things are going. Mainly, I decided to blog about it so that I would remember the stages. If someone I know ends up with it, perhaps they can get a better understanding of what to expect. Not that everyone experiences it the same way, but until I spoke to others, I really did not know what to expect either. At the beginning of the week, I went to my doctor because the left side of my face was actually (36 comments)
random post: My First Full Week with Bells Palsy - Ups and Downs - 06/29/09 11:12 AM
As you may have read previously, I have Bells Palsy. I'm attaching the WEB MD Page, to get a better understanding of this condition. There is no pain what so ever. A quick explanation is that the left side of my face is on vacation. All facial expressions are only displayed on my right side. Its very ODD to me still even though its been a week. According to my doctor, this should only last a few weeks to a few months. People I've talked with who have had it or know of someone that has, all have said it cures itself. (19 comments)
random post: Bells Palsy - What it is and Why I'm blogging about it... - 06/24/09 03:00 PM
I'm not sure if you are familiar with a condition called Bells Palsy. Its named after a Charles Bell. Long story short, there is no clear reason how this condition comes about nor how long it will last. It can be as quick as a few days or could be several months. The condition itself is where half of your face becomes paralyzed. Its not numb and there is no pain. Its just like your muscles took a vacation without leaving a note. It can happen to either side and show up with no warning at all. I am learning about this (14 comments)
