Dutch Gambrels, also known as Dutch Colonial Revival style homes are part of the colonial class.  They are Dutch colonials with gambrel style roofs.  You will often times hear them described as "barn" houses.  Dutch colonial revival styled homes were very popular in the 1920s.  The gambrel style roof was popular because it allowed people to build a second story on their home inexpensively and for tax purposes, the homes were still considered a single story home helping to save money.

100 DAYS OF CENTRAL MASS FEATURES CAPE COD STYLE HOMES
Cape Cod style homes first originated in the late 1700s and were built by English settlers that came to America.  A former President of Yale University, Reverend Timothy Dwight, is credited with coming up with the name "Cape Cod" for this class of home styles.
Cape Cods were modeled after the half-timbered homes in England, but were altered to adapt to the stormy New England weather.  They are traditionally 1 - 1 1/2 story homes with a steep roof and side gables.  Some capes have dormers that allow extra light, space and storage.  They are simple … (2 comments)

100 DAYS OF CENTRAL MASS FEATURES COLONIAL STYLE HOMES
The colonial architecture is associated with many different cultural traditions, including English, Spanish, Dutch and French.  Colonials found here in Central Mass are stately and symmetrical.  They are usually a 2 story rectangular dwelling with bedrooms on the second floor.  New England settlers first constructed what is known as Garrison Colonials, colonials that were similar to medieval England homes.  They had steep gable roofs, diamond paned windows and unpainted clapboard or wood siding.
Today's colonials are known as Neo-Colonials.  Inspired by the original colonial homes, Neo-Colonials mix modern style with classic simplicity and … (6 comments)

Do you know the difference or which one you are?  There are listers in this business and then their are those that list to last!  The latter is what you should be aiming for, and if you do, you can't go wrong.  Even on a listing that may be impossible to sell in your eyes, if you're listing to last, you can make it work.  As the old saying goes - "you have to list to last" in real estate, but that's only if you work it right.  Let's take a look at … (12 comments)
