Lake Chargoggagoggmanchauggagoggchaubunagungamaugg!  I bet you looked at that name and thought to yourself "Whoa!".  LOL  Try and say it, I don't believe that I can but I know some locals on the lake that could.  Lake Chargoggagoggmanchauggagoggchaubunagungamaugg, also known as Webster Lake, is located close to the Connecticut border.  It is 1,442 acres, 3.25 miles in length and has 17 miles of shoreline.  It is split between 3 sections that are all connected by small channels:  North Pond, Middle Pond and South Pond.  The widest point is on middle pond with a width of 1.125 miles.  North Pond has 5.78 … (2 comments)

The South Charlton Reservoir in Charlton, MA is a full recreational lake without restrictions!  You can boat, swim, ski and fish!  This is said to be the 3rd cleanest lake in Massachusetts.  South Charlton Reservoir features a great water-ski club for all that are interested.  The SCRA (South Charlton Reservoir Association) Water Ski Club has been around for more than 50 years to help teach people how to water ski and wakeboard.  They encourage community involvement and it is not mandatory to be a lake resident to participate in the Ski Club.  The SCRA often hosts charitable events to help the Worcester County … (0 comments)

South Pond, also known as Quacumquasit Lake, is the largest and deepest of the Sturbridge lakes.  It is fully recreational with the exceptiong of jet skis due to the lake's size.  It is located in the Northeastern section of town, close to the Brookfield townline.  South Pond is connected by a narrow channel to North Pond, also known as Quaboag Lake.  South Pond is about 218 acres with an average depth of 32.5 feet and maximum depth of 72 feet.  There is a public beach located off of Lake Street on the north end of the lake.  If you enjoy fishing, … (2 comments)

Pristine Cedar Lake is located in Sturbridge, MA.  It is a fully recreational lake with a maximum depth of 14 feet and is about 183 acres in size.  There is a public recreational access beach on Cedar Lake with an entrance off Cedar Street.  You can enjoy a summer camp in the season that includes swim lessons and tennis lessons.  The recreation office can be reached at 508-347-2506.  There are many residential homes for sale on the lake as well as a hotel on the lake - The Sturbridge Host Hotel.  The hotel has a small beach on the lake for it's … (1 comments)

James and I love to kayak, although we don't get to do it much having 4 small children and a business, but someday we'll do it again.  Close to our home in Brookfield, MA is the Quaboag River that flows through the towns of Brookfield, West Brookfield, and Warren before it joins the Swift River and Ware River in Three Rivers, forming the Chicopee River.  Now that's a LOT of rivers!  The head of the river is located in Brookfield, starting at Quaboag Pond.  It's a great place for white water kayaking and canoeing.  There is a put-in at Lucy Stone … (1 comments)
