One of the most important to do when buying a home is setting a budget. After speaking to a mortgage broker or loan officer, they can tell if you can buy a home or not, and if so, how much they think you can spend. Look over not just the mortgage & taxes, but also utilities, homeowners dues, money needed for immediate updates or budgeting for future repairs, new furniture and what have you.
