The Wisconsin gun deer season opens tomorrow November 20. Hunters have been anxiously awaiting this time of year and have been preparing for weeks. Of course, everyone is wondering what this season will bring.
In 2009 the statewide registered harvest was 330,000, falling short of many expectations based on the previous 5-year annual harvest average of 492,000.
Approximately half of the deer management units (DMUs) in the 2010 hunting season are estimating 20% or higher above population goals. The other half of DMUs estimate deer populations near or below established goals.
