The NW Corner of NW Wisconsin is an area worth discovering
Sure. I’m biased. After all, I live here.
But by any objective measure, my less known corner of NW Wisconsin offers some of the Upper Midwest’s clearest lakes and tallest pines.
Anywhere in northwestern Wisconsin is great. Some of the best fishing and recreation lakes, hunting land, and lots of other recreation opportunities can be found in Douglas, Washburn, Sawyer, and Bayfield counties.

The Eau Claire chain includes Lower, Middle, and Upper Eau Claire, plus a few smaller lakes of 80-200 acres that are accessible by smaller boats at most water levels. These include Bony, Pickerel, Robinson, Birch, Schunenberg, Smith, and Sweet. From Lower Eau Claire, the Eau Claire River flows westward, passing just south of Eau Claire Acres. Farther downstream, it joins the Saint Croix at Gordon.

Trout fishing enthusiasts, the early catch-and-release trout season opens at 5 a.m. on March 5 and runs until midnight May 1.
Wisconsin's official list of classified trout streams contains 58 more identified trout streams since 2002. Find trout and salmon regulations and guide, stream maps, and more resources.
On the Bois Brule River in Douglas County, the spring steelhead run usually begins in late March and extends through May. There are 4 regulations sections on the Brule. The Wisconsin DNR provides descriptions and trout fishing regulation information.

This first bi-annual Gordon WI market activity update shows how our local market is doing compared to Douglas County WI overall. Data pulled from NWWI MLS shows single family homes in the town of Gordon, waterfront and nonwaterfront, that sold in 2010 vs 2009.
As you can see from the table above, there is a wide gap between the low and high priced sold homes. To put a little more perspective on these numbers, of the 17 homes that sold in Gordon last year 15 sold for less than $200,000 making Gordon an affordable community to buy a home.
