A Shout-Out for Gunning and Company Estate Sales in the Mainline and Philadelphia Area
This is a shout out for Gunning and Company estate sales in the Mainline and Philadelphia area.  We contacted Michael Gunning at Gunning and Company a few months ago to enlist their assistance to help a family member offload a substantial amount of art, antiques, furniture, rugs, crystal, dishes, collectibles, tools, and more, as this historic country home in West Chester is being sold and the owner will be relocating and downsizing.

This has been a significant job – a 5,600 SF 15 room home … (3 comments)

Wanna Rent an Encinitas Boathouse? - 08/29/12 08:49 PM
Wanna Rent an Encinitas Boathouse?
It’s true.

One of the famous Encinitas Boathouses located just a short distance from the heart of town is now for rent.

The Encinitas Boathouses have been a tourist attraction for many years, and thankfully a few years ago were acquired by the Encinitas Preservation Association, after quite a bit of to do about what to do with them.

This acquisition has allowed their preservation and now you can rent one for $1850/month (900 SF, office, 2 decks, 1.5 baths and 2 bedrooms).

Technology I Use to Help You Sell Your Home - 08/29/12 04:17 PM
Technology I Use to Help You Sell Your Home
Technology tools are a big part of my real estate business and there is abundant technology I use to help you sell your home in Carlsbad and surrounding areas, from start to finish.

Obviously there are many other components besides using technology for marketing, finding buyers, and getting through the transaction. And some technology tools are more a convenience that speed up and simplify the process rather than a requirement. But why not use those tools that make your life simpler and hassle-free?

Of course these do not take … (13 comments)

Moonlight Beach Homes for Sale in Encinitas CA

The 9th Annual Carlsbad Music Festival 2012
It’s time again for one of the most popular musical events in our area, the 9th Annual Carlsbad Music Festival 2012.

Carlsbad has a long and rich reputation as a center for the arts, with multiple arts and crafts fairs and festivals, ArtSplash (also in September), the city-owned Cannon Art Gallery, the TGIF Jazz in the Parks 9-concert series in the summer, the Museum of Making Music, and so much more.

Golf Course Homes for Sale in Carlsbad CA
Buyers interested in living on or near a golf course have lots of options, given the golf course homes for sale in Carlsbad, Encinitas and in surrounding areas.

Golf course homes in Carlsbad offer a number of advantages, especially to homeowners who are golf enthusiasts, among them proximity to a particular golf course and its amenities plus wonderful views and open-space.

Potential annoyances could include golfers walking or carting nearby your front door/windows and errant gold balls if your home is close enough to the course.

Café del Rey in Marina Del Rey California – Waterfront Dining with Excellent Views
I am a big foodie, as most people who know me can attest, and I really enjoy dining out when the opportunity presents itself.

And I enjoy sharing restaurants I’ve enjoyed that I think others might also appreciate.

Café del Rey in Marina del Rey California is another great find – waterfront dining with excellent views, and the food was tops!

Ok 1-816-659-1194, STOP Harassing Me NOW!!
I don’t know who you are, nor do I give a hoot!

But I want you to stop harassing me.

NOW!!!

I’ve had enough. 12 calls in 3 days and I suspect you’re not finished.

I didn’t answer your first call on my cell because I didn’t recognize the area code. Good thing. You’ve never left a message…no surprise…and I have no desire to find out more.

Nor am I going to give you whatever measly satisfaction you might get out of actually picking up the call … (10 comments)

Wall Art in Carlsbad CA and Surrounding Areas - 08/24/12 05:02 PM
Wall Art in Carlsbad CA and Surrounding Areas
In my travels around Carlsbad, Encinitas, Oceanside, Little Italy and elsewhere I started noticing wall murals on the sides of buildings, interesting paint colors on buildings, and other kinds of wall art including mosaics.

So I decided to start a collection of photos that intrigued me.

We don’t tend to have many buildings with advertising as you see in LA where they tend to all be about upcoming new movie releases, and in Las Vegas advertising performers and shows at the big hotels, but they are starting … (4 comments)

BOXD in Carlsbad, a New Unique Restaurant in Carlsbad Village, Carlsbad CA - 08/23/12 02:20 PM
BOXD in Carlsbad, a New Unique Restaurant in Carlsbad Village
BOXD, a recently opened eatery in downtown Carlsbad Village, is one of the more unique places to eat in the area.

So what makes BOXD unique and so worth a visit, as I did yesterday while out touring Carlsbad homes for sale?

First, BOXD is a modified shipping container. Not only does it look a bit odd (but it sure is secure once they close up shop) but it sits on a large lot in the heart of town, something you don’t see with area restaurants.

Want to Save Those Text Messages? Here's How with SMS Backup and Restore - 08/19/12 08:46 PM
I love learning new ways to be efficient - goodness knows I can certainly use the help - and not being efficient drives me nuts!
I do a lot of texting these days, far more than I was doing even a year ago. While some is with with family members the majority is with buyer and seller clients, and those dialogs are something I want to preserve, as I do all transaction emails, just in case.
No doubt YOU are also doing a lot of communicating with your clients during a transaction.
I attended the GOOGLE UNIVERSE BOOTCAMP last Friday in … (54 comments)

The Carlsbad Boardwalk in Carlsbad CA
The Carlsbad Boardwalk is a special place, enjoyed by many, visitors and residents, for the views of the beaches and coastline, and of course the sunsets.

It’s a great place to walk for those who do not want sand between their toes or otherwise have trouble navigating a walk on the sand, and dog walkers, runners, and parents with kids in strollers, can readily enjoy the walk, too. There's also a concrete pathway right at the edge of the beach (see above).

The Winning Buyer Resume
Those who know me well are aware I come from a background in corporate Human Resources, about 16 years give or take. Of the many roles I played as an HR exec was helping companies hire the right people for key jobs.

Not an easy task.

A key part of the hiring process is reviewing resumes (i.e., skills, experience) of qualified candidates, or those who feel they are. In my HR career I saw tens of thousands!

The Life Cycle of Real Estate - 08/06/12 07:46 AM
The Life Cycle of Real Estate
Those of us in the real estate industry experience a life cycle of real estate in ways that others, perhaps, cannot understand or appreciate.

Many of us begin our real estate careers as the result of parents or other relatives in the industry. The birth of our real estate careers may be, for some, predetermined, and while we may venture in other directions first, so often the lure of helping others buy and sell homes draws us in sooner or later.

Some of us launch our careers on our own, while … (21 comments)
