A Visual Tour of Washington, DC in May 2012 - Fun, Food, Friends, Memories and Real Estate I spent 4 whirlwind days in Washington, DC last week for the Mid-Year Council of Residential Specialist (CRS) meetings, a series of legislative/educational committee meetings with national and regional leadership - I'm on the National Educational Forum committee.
It was 4 days of fun, food, friends, memories and real estate!
I suppose it's possible to have a bad meal in DC but I can't say I have.

I was truly blessed last night.
I am on a whirlwind trip to Philadelphia, for family reasons, and to Washington, DC for the mid-year meetings for the Council of Residential Specialists (CRS) for 4 days. I had mentioned to Martha Brown, in Annapolis, some weeks ago about coming back east and she organized a group of AR friends for dinner last night at the Severn Inn in Annapolis on the Severn River with the Naval Academy as back-drop across the water.

But, since I'm heading off to the Paris Hotel for the CRS Sellabration Convention, it's a great opportunity to meet up with the AR folks, CRS or not, who are in the area or attending the event before the convention starts.
Now of course good Las Vegas friends Renee Burrows, the Shack Diva, (we have NEVER met F2F), John Novak, and perhaps Robert Swetz, will hopefully be there, among some other Las Vegas luminaries.

I'm heading off tomorrow morning early out of LAX for the NAR and CRS Meetings in Washington, DC beginning Monday May 10.
Anyone else heading that way for part or all of the week?
If you are, let me know. I would love to meet up with as many AR folks as I can, given the time constraints.
I'll be attending the midyear NAR meetings for the first time, as part of my role as President-Elect for the Southern California Chapter of CRS (Certified Residential Specialists), through Wednesday. The CRS meetings start on Thursday and run through Sunday.

ActiveRain is a fabulous community of folks, ‘bout 180,000 of them.
Anyone who has spent any time here beyond just creating a profile would likely agree.
Despite nastiness, griping, flaming, and plagiarism from time to time, the AR community gets along pretty darn well. Friendships are forged, referrals are made, and gatherings take place (here's a step back in time with some SoCal Rainers from 2007 at Crystal Cove in Orange County CA; and a larger event in Long Beach CA to celebrate the 1-year anniversary).

Today, July 22, is the long-awaited Del Mar Races opening day for thoroughbred racing at the famed Del Mar Race Track at the Del Mar Fairgrounds in Del Mar California.

The journey to the first Blogger Connect in San Francisco was a remarkable one of less than 10 months, a voyage from complete newbie without much of a clue about blogging to someone who could, without too much shame or embarrassment, call himself a blogger.

Today is an exciting day, for several reasons.
First I have a final walk-through on a property with some first time buyers in just a few hours. This is momentous – we have looked at homes off and on for 18 months. The home is gorgeous and meets my clients’ needs in so many ways. There were some bumps along the way, not to mention a low appraisal after we struggled for days to reach agreement. But we got through that too, with the cooperative efforts of the buyers, sellers, and agents on both sides. Whew! And it’s not a short … (16 comments)

It finally happened, on a somewhat gray day in what is generally sunny California (but we are into May Gray weather, it seems), at the Beachcomber at Crystal Cove, right on the beach.
8 AR folks gathered this afternoon for lunch, to share ideas, and get to know each other a little more. Some of us already know each other well, or have met before, but the immediate feeling of comraderie was obvious regardless...and that's what is so cool about Activerain.

Your first thought MIGHT be - big deal, rain in CA. Well, here in paradise it often IS a big deal. We can go months without rain and then all of a sudden it happens, and everyone freaks out on the freeways. And we get mudslides, etc.
But that's not what this is about.
I just got back from the Blogging Conference up in LB starring Rain City Guide master, Dustin Luther. Dustin's "hold on to your seats" rapid-fire talk was inspiring, filled with tips, advices, cautions, wisdom, and much more. It was entertaining! Insightful!
