Fireworks in Carlsbad California July 3rd and 4th 2011 Residents and visitors will have 2 nights to enjoy fireworks in Carlsbad California.
The best places, in my opinion, are the following:
JULY 3 - Sunday
La Costa Resort and Spa. These fireworks can be seen close up on the golf course or from numerous vantage points (and homes) rimming the golf course and in the La Costa hills. Dine at Blue Fire Grill first, then hang around to enjoy the fireworks.
JULY 4 - Monday
Legoland, between Cannon and Palomar Airport Roads about ½ mile east of the 5 freeway. … (11 comments)

We had the pleasure of attending The Best of North County Party 2011 at the Park Hyatt Aviara Resort in Carlsbad last night, with about 2000 other party-goers. It was a blast!
The party was a celebration of all that North San Diego County has to offer - dining, shopping, wineries, services, health and wellness, and so much more. The 5th annual Batiquitos Kayak Cleanup will be this coming weekend. Even if you plan to attend the Carlsbad ArtSplash on one or both of those days you can probably find time to participate in this very worthwhile event (but see note below about registration).
The Batiquitos Lagoon is in south Carlsbad, bordering Encinitas, and is a wildlife nature preserve. There are terrific trails to enjoy along the lagoon and great bird watching, but no fishing (except at the mouth jetty by the ocean), swimming or … (4 comments)

Goodbye Four Seasons Aviara Resort
It's now, sadly, the truth. The famed Four Seasons Aviara Resort is leaving Carlsbad in June after a sting of 13 years managing the resort. Well, the resort will still be there but the Four Seasons will no longer be managing the resort and golf course.
I mentioned way back in June 2009 the arbitration that was in process as the result of allegation by the resort's owners of alleged mismanagement by the Four Seasons of funds in its operations in Carlsbad. The Four Seasons denied any wrong-doing.

It's an ugly question to have to ask, but a very real one.
The Four Seasons Aviara Resort has been a mainstay of South Carlsbad's Aviara area for more than 10 years (they signed a 30-year contract in 1995 with several 20-year optional continuations). That is until the owners of the resort that the Four Seasons Hotels and Resorts manages got their britches in a bunch.
The owners are alleging financial mismanagement by the Four Seasons and running the resort in a less-than-cost-effective manner (my words). Seems the alleged issues surround the 2009 operating budget and recent refinancing by the … (5 comments)

Carlsbad is blessed with 3 beautiful lagoons, for residents and visitors to enjoy. Significant efforts have been spent over the years to preserve these bodies of water and, in the case of the Batiquitos Lagoon in South Carlsbad, to create a wildlife preserve and walking trails.
The Batiquitos Lagoon, in my view, is the most beautiful. The Batiquitos Lagoon in Carlsbad in the Aviara area is a treasure.
The Batiquitos Lagoon (one of 3 in Carlsbad)is a wildlife refuge where boating, swimming, and fishing are not permitted, and the bird watching is terrific. There are lots of wonderful hiking/running trails for all to enjoy while appreciating the views of the lagoon and the adjoining Aviara Golf Course of the Four Seasons Resort.
