cardiff: Is YOUR House Upside Down? - 03/27/12 08:51 PM
Is YOUR House Upside Down?
While this might sound like an odd question, it really isn’t.

Upside down houses, or reverse floor plan homes as they are sometimes called here, are pretty popular, especially in areas like Cardiff where upside down homes cascade down the hillside to take advantage of the ocean views from the main living areas, and in some homes the other rooms as well.

While a master bedroom view is certainly nice to have, assuming you spend much of your waking time in the main living and entertaining areas, it makes sense to take advantage … (11 comments)

cardiff: Animate Your Relocating Buyers’ Interest with Animoto - Cardiff-by-the-Sea, CA - 01/19/12 07:43 PM
Animate Your Relocating Buyers’ Interest with Animoto
I specialize in relocation, as a niche market, in part because I enjoy it, but also because I’ve made 4 major moves (over 1000 miles) with kids, cars, cats, dogs, and 2 jobs, so I know how to do it well.

I’ve also worked on relocation from a corporate perspective – setting up relocation programs, relocating employees in and out, and have used a couple of corporate relocation programs through my wife’s former companies when we moved to and from Minnesota. I get it.

But the point of my thinking here … (15 comments)

cardiff: Kitesurfing at the Beach in Cardiff CA | November 28, 2010 - 11/30/10 10:13 AM
Kitesurfing at the Beach in Cardiff-by-the-Sea, CA in November
A blustery fall day made for terrific kitesurfing at the beach in Cardiff-by-the-Sea, California this past weekend. Indeed, because of the wind and the cold (OK 50 degrees and wind is chilly here in SoCal) there wasn't too much else going on at the beach in the early morning except kitesurfing and a few brave surfers in wetsuits.
I personally like both feet on the ground, unless I'm flying, and a bunch of other land-lovers were out to watch the kitesurfers tackle the wind and the waves. It was pretty cool … (16 comments)

cardiff: I Wanna Order a Pizza!! - 06/26/10 11:38 PM

I Wanna Order a Pizza!! [photo by Foodies on Flickr]

Those were the words I heard when I answered my cell while out previewing properties this afternoon.
Of course my immediate reaction was this was wrong number, so I said so. BUT I also asked what number they were trying to reach. Not just because I wanted to be polite, but I have learned something about long tail searches. And I knew.
The caller responded that she was calling WINE STEALS...a very cool wine bar near the beach in Cardiff, a beachside town just a few miles south of … (75 comments)

As a result of storms and tidal activity, a sandy berm builds up at the inlet, which reduces the … (2 comments)

cardiff: Sunset Watching in Southern California: Cardiff Sunset - 12/20/09 05:23 PM

I snapped this photo, one of a series, after leaving a Open House in Cardiff by the Sea, California. I thought the light was particularly interesting with the layers of color, but it was not what one would call a spectacular sunset.
Watching the sunset is a popular activity here. People line the beaches, the bluffs, and other places where they can watch the sun set, then go their merry way. Enjoying an al fresco dinner on the beach is often part of the fun.
I wrote a post some time ago about popular places to gather to watch the … (9 comments)

cardiff: Cardiff Restaurants - Trattoria Positano Cardiff-by-the-Sea California - 09/26/09 10:35 AM
Discovering a new restaurant and having a memorable experience is always a pleasure, and in the case of a small number of Cardiff restaurants, Trattoria Postiano in Cardiff-by-the-Sea California, I was not disappointed.

Trattoria Positano delights in many ways. One can easily imagine being in Italy while dining at this friendly, family-run restaurant.
And with glimpses of the ocean and the setting sun through the palm trees (depending on where your table is) while enjoying home-made pasta, among other traditional Italian preparations, with good friends and conversation, I couldn't have been happier. Except, perhaps, actually BEING in Italy.

It's easy to see why so many folks are smitten with Southern California and want to own a home wtihin view or walking distance of our gorgeous coastline.
It's also such a treat to have a beautiful lagoon like this one preserved for all to enjoy year-round.
