Sometimes memories are not pleasant, as is the case of the most recent Carlsbad fires that took erupted May 14, 2014. There are still remmants of the fires but homes have been rebuilt, and vegetation has recovered in many areas, but the memories linger.
The citizens of Carlsbad have much to be thankful for with our first responders, fire fighters, and others who helped during this difficult time. The damages could have been far worse had it not been for these heroes.

Community Thanks to the Carlsbad Firefighters and First Responders
The City of Carlsbad is hosting a big Thank You event, the Community Appreciation Day, to thank everyone who helped Carlsbad deal with the wildfires (the Poinsettia Fire) that spread through many acres of southern Carlsbad in the Aviara and La Costa area a little over a week ago.
The event will be held at the Carlsbad Safety Training Center this Saturday May 31, 2014 from 10 am until 2 pm. All are welcome and residents are encouraged to bring photos, stories, drawings and notes for the Memory … (6 comments)

A Huge Thank You and Tribute to Carlsbad Firefighters and First Responders It’s hard to put into words when you need to thank firefighters and first responders who did so much last week when Carlsbad, and other communities, were hit with multiple raging fires with temps at 100 and roaring Santa Ana winds in our drought-ridden neighborhoods. You can see some of the photos from our fires below.
These photos in a number of hard-hit Carlsbad communities say it best…and I understand the town is planning a big thank you dinner.
Carlsbad Fires 2014 It’s hard to put into words the feelings about what’s going on in Carlsbad not far from my home, and an area I know so well, while I am here in DC. Not where I want to be at the moment. All started out well yesterday morning with my early morning flight out of LAX to DC, although I almost missed the plane due to traffic.
