Most know about the serious Equifax breach that occurred recently.
 
But as Gene so aptly points out, this is NOT something you can just deal with now, by checking accounts, breathing a sigh of relief when all looks well, and then forgetting about it. You need to worry about the future.

Typically, making assumptions is not good.  In the case of the Equifax security breach discovered on July 29, 2017?  Just the opposite is true. 

Yep, you read that right ...
 
ASSUME the worst and proactively take measures to protect yourself, your finances, and your credit history/credit scores.  Don't wait for confirmation yea or nay.

Has Your Escrow Company’s Bank Been Hacked?  
I heard a pretty scary story today at a meeting of the Southern California Chapter of Certified Residential Specialists (CRS) in Ontario.
 
3 stories, actually.
 
Seems the bank for the escrow company holding funds for several transactions (buyer’s deposits, seller’s funds) totaling many thousands of dollars was hacked and the funds were stolen.
 
Not a pretty picture for the sellers and the buyers.
 
While with all the hacking we hear about these days, this might not come as a big surprise, but I had not heard of this happening … (13 comments)
