encinitas business: From a Hole in the Ground in Encinitas to a Whole Foods Market - Well, Almost - 09/13/09 03:46 PM
The Whole Foods Market at Pacific Station has been in process for some time, and it has been fun to watch the progress from a hole in the ground in Encinitas to a Whole Foods Market. We still have a ways to go but it will be worth it.
Here are a few shots taken over a fairly long period, the most recent this afternoon.

encinitas business: Encinitas Massage Therapists - Kendra Stidolph Massage Therapy Encinitas California - 08/24/09 02:48 PM
I found a terrific Encinitas Massage Therapist today - Kendra Stidolph HHP Massage Therapy in Encinitas. And, coincidentally, she happens to be in the same office as my favorite Chiropractor in Encinitas, Scott Lund Chiropratic Encinitas.
Kendra is a Carlsbad native who practices Lomi Lomi massage, a Hawaiian form of bodywork, and had the great fortune to study with Kahu Abraham Kawai'I and his wife Ho'okahi on Kaui and Oahu.

encinitas business: Encinitas Juice Bar - Fountain of Youth Juice Bar Encinitas California - 08/10/09 05:00 PM
If you want a healthy drink that will help keep you feeling fit and healthy, you need to visit one of the best Encinitas Juice Bars, Fountain of Youth Juice Bar Encinitas California.
I paid a visit there after hearing much about the many loyal customers who stop by for their various nutrition drinks, cleanses and so much more, in addition to delicious sandwiches and other edibles. The focus, however, is on fresh squeezed fruit juices, organic vegetable juices, juice combinations (V5, V6, V7, and V10 for example), smoothies (with healthy additions such as protein powder, Vitamin C, bee pollen, calcium, … (10 comments)

encinitas business: Chiropractors in Encinitas - Lund Chiropractic Encinitas California - 08/07/09 04:53 PM
For folks with lower back or neck problems and related spinal issues who are seeking a chiropractor in Encinitas, Lund Chiropractic Encinitas California may be just what the doctor ordered for neuromuscular health.

While for many years chiropractic care was frowned upon by many medical professionals, and those who practiced the science were viewed with skepticism in many cases, chiropractic care has become increasingly popular in the 20th century with a variety of studies documenting many benefits that can arise from manipulation or "adjustment" of the vertebrae of the spine and the resulting impact on muscles, organs and overall general … (11 comments)

Gaffney's Wine Bar Encinitas California is THE wine bar to go to in Encinitas.

encinitas business: Leucadia Galleries – The Andrews Gallery in Encinitas California - July Show 2009 - 07/30/09 12:44 PM
We attended the opening of the newest show at my favorite of the Leucadia Galleries, The Andrews Gallery in Encinitas California, Saturday July 18 with some friends.

In addition to a lively and diverse crowd, always the case at one of director Drew Snyder's openings, Andrews Gallery festivities included a talented jazz trio, In Motion, all the more impressive because of their young age (someone mentioned one of the members is only 16, but I don't know if that is fact or rumor).

I had a wonderful conversation with Susan Snyder, a well established artist in her own right (and Drew's … (7 comments)

encinitas business: Encinitas Restaurant Le Papagayo Delights us Again - Great Food in Leucadia California - 07/19/09 07:54 AM
Encinitas restaurant Le Papagayo remains at the top of our list of favorite places to dine along the coast. The atmosphere is always friendly, lively and comfortable and a reminder of dining in the islands - a-come-in-your-shorts-and-flip-flops type of place, and the food is varied and presented well. Yes, the trains roar by on the other side of the Coast Road now and then, but for a casual, fun place with great prices, a respectable wine list, and a colorful interior (lots of original artwork), Le Papagayo is well worth a visit.

encinitas business: For Women Only: New Encinitas CA Women's Only Gym and Spa Opening Soon! - 06/05/09 05:09 PM
Excitement is mounting as the new Total Woman Gym and Atmosphere Day Spa opening in Encinitas is approaching.

The Total Woman Gym and Atmosphere Day Spa will be the ONLY women-only facility of its type in the Encinitas/Carlsbad area since the closing of Elite recently.
I had a sneak preview yesterday of the equipment at their pre-sales office, and spoke with General Manager Lisa Fitting about what makes this gym and spa so special.
The gym and spa facility will be state of the art, and luxurious! Ever heard of an infinity sink, in granite? The photos of the planned … (7 comments)

The spring weather has been fabulous and we are starting the parade of outdoor fairs and festival that are so popular here in America's Finest City and surrounds.

Encinitas is a seaside town about 25 miles north of San Diego and will be hosting its annual street outdoor fair this coming weekend. April 25th and 26th. encinitas business: Elizabethan Desserts in Encinitas, California - 02/27/09 02:41 AM

Folks who know me know that I have quite a sweet tooth, especially for chocolate. Elizabethan Desserts, in Encinitas, helps to fulfill the need for sweets in many ways. Oh so many ways!
I have been acquainted with pastry chef Elizabeth Harris for several years now since she opened her fabulous Elizabethan Desserts bakery shop at the Sunshine Gardens nursery in Encinitas near Moonlight Beach (just a short hop from Carlsbad). Yes, it is a totally unexpected place to find a sweet shop, but who cares?! You go buy some flowers, and you stop in to buy sweets, or just … (14 comments)

encinitas business: The Encinitas Seaside Bazaar - 02/24/09 01:52 AM

The Seaside Bazaar in Encinitas is an intriguing outdoor shopping venue, held every Saturday and Sunday during the year. The Bazaar offers an eclectic range of vendors (perhaps 40) with all sorts of products (and I suspect it changes each week as well, a little bit like the local farmer's markets do, with the regulars and then the newbies)
The Seaside Bazaar is held in a large parking area (on the coast road) just north of downtown Encinitas, a short hop from the La Paloma Theater, and before you reach Encinitas Boulevard (right on the Coast Road). I drive by … (4 comments)

encinitas business: The Andrews Gallery in Leucadia - The Latest Show (February 2009) - 02/22/09 02:39 PM
I am a big fan of art, as folks who know me can attest. AND a big fan of The Andrews Gallery in Leucadia, the newest, and brightest, addition to the art scene in North San Diego County. My opinion. But I think others agree. And it's right next to Carlsbad.
The Andrews Gallery opened, with quite a bit of fanfare, last October 2008 (here's my post from the opening reception).
Drew Snyder, curator, owner, and artist, continues to bring excitement and vision to the art community in North County, and the latest show (I missed the opening reception, being out of … (7 comments)

encinitas business: Signs of the Times in Encinitas, California - 02/11/09 11:28 AM

We have been hearing for quite some time now of layoffs from many companies throughout the country, retailers as well as most other industries. Given how things are in the current economy we can likely expect more store closings.
Recent big news of layoffs included Home Depot, with the announcement of closing their Home Expo showrooms that carry higher-end home remodeling supplies and furnishings for every room in the house. Our local Home Expo Store in Encinitas (right over the Carlsbad line off of El Camino Real and Leucadia Boulevard) is included in those closings.
The time could be right … (11 comments)

encinitas business: Pannikin Coffee and Tea in Leucadia (Encinitas) California - 12/24/08 09:36 AM

Pannikin Coffee and Tea is a popular coffee shop on the Coast Road (Route 101) in the Leucadia area of Encinitas.
This place always seems to have a crowd both inside and out (on the patio or upstairs on the porch) in this gathering spot where you can have all sorts of goodies (pastries, muffins, pie, cookies, egg bagels) along with your coffee or tea in an cozy, eclectic eatery and country store/gift shop (tea, coffee and tea cups and all sorts of assorted knick knacks). Because of its popularity the Pannikin can get quite crowded and reviews on Yelp … (9 comments)
