I generated a good bit of interesting discussion 2 years ago TODAY with a post about the value, or not, of holding homes open on Superbowl Sunday. Superbowl Sunday - A Great Day to Have an Open House...Or Is It? The market has shifted quite a bit since then - prices have dropped a lot, we have many more short sales, foreclosures, and REO's, and the economy has been turned on its head. open houses: I Didn't get the Listing Today - 02/25/07 09:33 PM
Well I didn't get it. Am I bummed - yeah a bit, but not too much. My attitude is NOT that I lost the listing...I never had it to lose. But I didn't get it. I was one of 3 agents who met with the sellers (FSBOs BTW) the other day to talk about my marketing and how I could help them. I have been sending them information once a week or so for months...so I was thrilled that they responded and asked me to come meet with them. The meeting was short - they made it clear upfront that I, like the other 2,

This is the 3rd in my series of posts intended to provide sellers with a list of issues to seriously consider before making the decision to sell their homes without the assistance of a licensed real estate agent. Selling your own home is time consuming and has a number of risks and liabilities, especially in a competitive buyer's market. Do not make the decision to take this on yourself lightly; give careful thought to these issues before plunging in! I just got back from our quarterly CRS meeting here in Southern California. Bernice Ross was our featured speaker, and among the MANY great tips and suggestions was a lead follow-up system focused on homeownersip called My Home Management Club. It sounded like a great idea which I plan to try (e.g., people you meet at open houses might be more interested since you are not sending them the standard information on buying and selling), and I thought others might be interested in learning more.
