san francisco: A Visit to Kilauea Lighthouse in Kaua’i, Hawaii - 01/03/12 10:31 AM
A Visit to Kilauea Lighthouse in Kaua’i, Hawaii We spent an amazing 5 days in Kaua’i for my birthday in early November – I am still enjoying looking at the photos. Coming from New England, I am a big lighthouse fan. After all they are all over the place there, particularly in Maine and on Cape Cod. Lighthouses are not so common here on the Left Coast, but we enjoyed a visit to Point Reyes north of San Francisco a couple of year ago to see that lighthouse (photo to the right). It is amazing

san francisco: A Visit to Muir Woods in Mill Valley (San Francisco) California - 09/21/11 12:09 PM
A Visit to Muir Woods in Mill Valley (San Francisco) California A visit to Muir Woods in Mills Valley is breathtaking. If you’ve been you certainly know what I mean, and if not, you really should if you are ever in the area. Muir Woods National Monument is a 295 acre preserved forest populated by giant California Redwoods, the tallest and one of the largest living things on earth. The land was donated to the government by the Kent family and dedicated as a national monument by Roosevelt, and named for conservationist John Muir. If

san francisco: A Visit to Chinatown in San Francisco, CA - 04/19/11 10:29 PM
A Visit to San Francisco's Chinatown San Francisco's Chinatown is an amazing place to visit, and of the Chinatowns I've seen (New York, Boston, LA), the best in our country. It is also reportedly the largest outside of Asia. We spend several hours strolling around San Francisco's Chinatown on Sunday, which included a mile or so of walking up and down some of San Francisco's famed hills (more up than down, it seemed, in the Pacific Heights area - photo at right) with fabulous views of Alcatraz, East Bay, Coit Tower and the Transamerica Building. Anyone who has visited San Francisco's

san francisco: Greens Restaurant | Vegetarian Ecstasy in San Francisco, CA - 08/18/10 10:16 AM
Greens Restaurant - Vegetarian Ecstasy in San Francisco, CA Dining out is a favorite pastime which I, sadly, don't get to enjoy nearly enough. Dining out at a really good restaurant with a national reputation is the ultimate. We did just that a couple of weeks ago as we neared the end of our whirlwind trip up the California coast to wine country and back through San Francisco. Greens Restaurant is a noted vegetarian restaurant (established 1979 but in a different setting) in the Fort Mason area of the city by the bay, San Francisco. Greens Restaurant was established

san francisco: A Memorable San Francisco View - 08/15/10 09:18 PM
We had a terrific trip recently up the California coast through Big Sur and spent a couple of days in wine country (Napa, Sonoma), and then 2 days in San Francisco, one of my very favorite cities. One of the highlights was dinner at a very well known restaurant (the review is coming). This was the view from our table on the bay, looking out across the marina to the Golden Gate Bridge. The meal, the company, and the views were memorable.

san francisco: 4 Days in San Francisco - What a Blast - 05/19/08 10:44 AM
This has nothing really to do with Carlsbad real estate, other than, perhaps, a suggestion for something to do. I just got back from a mini-vacation in San Francisco. Yep, took the phone and laptop so I was not completely at rest, but with coverage in place for my listings, and great connectivity, it was easy to play…although NOT so easy to stay away from blogging. Not being near a computer for many hours at a time helped. But the blogging addiction was apparent. Gotta get my blogging dose in so here’s a replay of the trip. For anyone heading to

san francisco: An Urban Stairmaster - 06/09/07 10:14 AM
I took a recent car trip up the Central Coast of Californiaall the way to San Francisco, one of my favorite cities in the world. Folks that have been there know what I mean about hills - there are lots of them (San Francisco has been compared to Rome and its Seven Hills), and parking. driving, and walking can be a challenge in many areas. Trying to imagine sellers moving out, or buyers moving into their new homes in some parts of town is difficult - not only are the streets narrow, but the steepness of the hills precludes a large truck being

san francisco: Westfield Plaza in San Francisco - 01/08/07 09:53 AM
My wife and I recently spent the weekend in San Francisco for my birthday. Truly a wonderful city, as those of you who have visited probably know. If you have not, go! This is a pic of the new Westfield Plaza from the ground floor - I thought the architecture was interesting. 3/30/07 - SHARON: Had to add this to our new group on Buildings, Architecture and Dings.
