A Carlsbad View of Snow
 
Winter has come to Southern California, which means I can see snow on a number of distant mountains. And I like that just fine.
 
 
 
After all I left New England for Carlsbad to get away from the snow, but seeing it on these mountains that are quite some distance away suits me just fine. If I want to enjoy it in person I can get there in a couple of hours. But for those Carlsbadians who like to ski and snowboard, it's a treat to have it relatively close. One of the things I really enjoy about living in Carlsbad, after having spent many years on the East Coast, particularly New England, and a couple of years in Minnesota, is a snowless winter.
And just about everyone else I talk to who has moved here says the same thing.
Oh, it can get pretty chilly, by our standards (perhaps even the low 30s at night in the winter along the coast) but certainly nothing to compare to other areas.
Want snow?
Well it's not that far way.
