One of Hawai'i's premier competitive beach and water-sport competitions is the annual Dukes Ocean Fest, celebrating the historic legacy of Hawai'i's legendary Olympic Gold Medalist Duke Kahanamoku. The week long festival includes beach volley ball, surfing, swimming , and outrigger canoe racing, as well as, a number of beach side events in Waikiki.

In Honolulu, back in 1940, the very first Nā Hula Festival took place at Kapi'olani Park in Waikiki celebrating the artistry and grace of Hawai‘i’s premiere dance form – Hula. Today the festival is the longest running annual non-competitive hula event in Hawai‘i nei.
