Jingles ( 2 1/2 year old Sheltie) is an Animal Assisted Crisis Response Dog. She recently was able to provide comfort to many people during a local crisis in our community.

Although the fishing industry is not as large as it once was, Anacortes is still home port ot many fishing vessel and certainly sport fishing is one of the prime past times here. So it is fitting that the community celebrate the gifts from our sea. Come to Seafarers' Memorial Park in Anacortes for chowder tasting, free clam and oyster sampling and our famous barbecued salmon! Goodbye Oracle and Good Luck From Anacortes, WA For the last 2 weeks we have enjoyed watching the beautiful racing sailing vessel the BMW Oracle move sleekly through The Guemes Channel in Anacortes, WA as she moved out to test her sails and cutting edge design. Anacortes Homes all along the Guemes Channel have watched her and her escorts go out to sea and return each day. Having completed a successful initial testing session the BMW Oracle Racing Team is taking her to San Diego for more extensive testing. The Orca play in our backyard here in the San Juan Islands! Anacortes is on Fidalgo Island which is accessible by bridge, and only 90 minutes away from Seattle. It is part of the San Juan Islands but politically it is in Skagit County. Come visist one of the most beautiful places in the world!

Anacortes is known for building multi-million dollar luxury yachts, but now there is another event to place us on the map with mariners. The approx. 90' trimaran to be used in the America's Cup race in Valencia, Spain was unveiled (although there is a controversy around the location of the next race). Yesterday a friend had a family member in town that is loosing his battle with cancer. Even though he feels very ill these days, one of the things he wanted to do was to see the whales before it was too late. Thanks to Island Adventures, he was able to see the whales and had one of the best days of his life!
