Real Estate has changes alot since the latter part of the 1990's. The internet has come to be a friend, a business partner and a way of life. I remember when you caould take a $55.00 ad out in the paper and that was it, now we need multiple websites, magazines and most of consumers to capture. The best way to stay in the consumers eye and mind is a multi media, something we didnt have in the late 1990's. What a change!

realestate.com has a NEW techy cell phone listing application

Fellow Realtors and Affiliates!

I just read this today in The Wall Street Journal: I feed my agents listings to www.realestate.com for free!

Wouldn't this be nice to share with your clients?

September 8, 2008, 5:57 pm

RealEstate.com Launches Cell Phone Listing Application

(Photo: Courtesy of RealEstate.com)

Sushil Cheema reports:

Consumers looking for real estate information don’t need to turn to the newspaper or even to the web for listings. Now, they need only turn to their cell phones.

Smarter Agent, a developer of location-specific real estate searches, has teamed with RealEstate.com and other listings providers throughout the country to provide mobile phone users with access to a national database of real estate listings through an application called “Homes for Sale”.

“It’s part of a larger strategy where we are trying to get local real estate in the hands of consumers where they need it,” said Greg Hanson, the vice president of product excellence at RealEstate.com.

The application, launching today with two million listings from RealEstate.com, is available to only Sprint and AT&T customers, but the company plans expand it to other networks and phones, Hanson said. The program has been tested on and works on 80 different phone models for those two network providers, he explained. RealEstate.com estimates that it has the ability to reach about 50 million subscribers on those two networks.

Users cannot preview the application before downloading it, though they can view screenshots. The cost for downloading varies depending on the service provider, and monthly unlimited access, also dependent on the provider, ranges from $2.99 to $4.99.

When the application is launched in a GPS-enabled phone, listings in the user’s physical vicinity will automatically show up, though the user can override the GPS, enter a zip code anywhere in the U.S. and view listings in that designated area, Hanson said. For those without GPS, the user must manually enter the zip code every time. The users can zoom in on particular addresses and move around on the map, he said. The information provided on the screen includes the address of a particular property, the amenities and the listing price.

Readers, would you find such a service helpful?

New Websites from The Real Estate Book...Continued....

Hello and good morning everyone,

I had a lot of inquiries the last few days on my brief blog about the new websites that The Real Estate Book is feeding to. When I say feed to, I dont mean they advertise there, they actually feed your listings complimentary to all the site they have partnered with. I related six websites a few days ago as being the new ones, however a lot of people have asked well "what are all the websites?" not just the new ones.

News in the Media field

The Real Estate Book has just added four more Partners in which Realtors can feed their listings to. Once the Realtor is in the print piece their listings automatically get sent to key Real Estate driven sites, roughly 40 total.

The new sites just added are www.resortscape.com, www.landwatch.com, www.hotpads.com, and www.properazzi.com

With these new sites added to the current media mix and with the latest changes to The Real Estate Book's website, we hope to capture even a larger audience than ever before. If you have not been on the site in the last couple of weeks you owe it to yourself to see the changes that the consumers will see.

Good luck out there and happy selling!

I attended a Craig Proctor seminar, wow!

I had the privilege of attending a held seminar in Palm Springs where Craig Proctors team presented their way of selling Real Estate. It was very informative and as a former Realtor myself I gained knowledge that I had only wished I knew when I was practicing. However, coming from an advertising end of it today I gained knowledge about what makes a 2.0 Realtor tick, (2.0 referring to Technology).

There are so many ways in which to promote listings through paper and the internet, but how do we catch the buyers out there when there is so much? Well, Craig puts it into some simple formulas that work and really its getting back to the basics and really not going for the shotgun approach. We can all get caught up in the latest and greatest, however with that comes a hefty price tag.

Thinking outside the corners of your box is what we all need to do. A fresh approach and streamlined sense of keenness is almost essential in todays market. Craig Proctor currently is making over 3 million in gross commissions a year by maintaining good judgment and a sound foundation. Isn't it a great time to know what it takes to really make it?

Well, I am off this morning to yet another Craig Proctor seminar in San Diego and I am hopeful I can come back with regained knowledge and fortitude. Be well and keep your stars aligned in the Real Estate field.

Jeff

ps. If i were to sponsor Craig to come to Southern California near us would I have anyone to show up? I am thinking in Palm Springs or San Bernardino somewhere. It would be a free half day seminar possibly in May.

Online Marketing at its best

In working with the Real Estate Book over the last year and a half I have come to know the internet a lot more, as with any position with a Company, we must learn all aspects of the business.

The Real Estate Book saw the freight train about 10 years ago called the Internet, we went out and created many unique partnerships in which to promote our agents listings on. At the time we only had a few, now its in excess of 30 partner sites. Many ask when they see the book "isn't print dying?" my response is that is what the media tells us and many teachers in Real Estate practice, however they are speaking about the "old and archaic" way of advertising in the paper. The same paper that usually trashes the industry and has consumers running the opposite direction, also wants the agents to put their listings in their Real Estate section for an outrageous amount. ALL black and white, no individual home photos.....just text!

With the increasing amount of people looking at homes in a Real Estate driven magazine AND picking it up VOLUNTARILY. The magazine industry is actually driving consumers to websites, look at Amazon.com, they now have a magazine, ebay and Lands End all have magazines. These companies have started out in the dot.com arena and have figured out after losing some money that they also need to be under peoples noses.

The Real Estate Book offers the advertiser the ability to put all their listings on-line and put a good amount in the print piece. The unique thing about the product is that they think outside of the box and looking at it from a Realtors point of view for pricing and the consumers point of view for rich content, photos, virtual tours and ease of navigation. This is what separates The Real Estate Book from any other form of media out there.

Consumers are looking on-line all the time and on a variety of search engines, people get warm and fuzzy with their favorites and its not always the two big ones. So virtual placement of your listings is key in the advertising and marketing world, you need to be seen by everyone and everyone needs to find you.

The prices for the book varies from territory to territory, however all the Internet feeds are complimentary. If you were to purchase the placement on Unique Homes, Wall Street Journal and Ny Times it would cost a small fortune. We do it complimentary with just a page or two in the book.

Contact your local rep today or email/call me and I will direct you.

Jeff Vandermate 760-567-4331
