Pemberton Austin Home Sale and Market Update - 10/13/10 11:54 PM
Located just west of the University of Texas and minutes to Downtown Austin, Pemberton Heights was originally farm land that was developed in the 1920's and 1930's as a "well balanced" community of varied architectural styles. Many historic homes grace the tree lined streets of Pemberton and this True Austin neighborhood has enjoyed enduring popularity. Buyers who like classic architecture, larger lots and prominent, undisturbed, but well maintained testaments to early 20th century styleand grace, love Pemberton. I always take vintage home buyers through Pemberton whether it is in their price range or not to show off Austin's smaller, but attractive stock of grander homes

Brykerwoods Austin Home Sales Update - 10/13/10 07:20 PM
Brykerwoods is a popular Central Austin neighborhood of mostly vintage cottages with new construction sprinkled in. Many Brykerwoods homes have been renovated and expanded to meet today's standards without losing the charm of decades past. Buyers like it here because they can get an appealing vintage home on a modest lot with trees at a convenient location. These shady streets are within 2 minutes of the University of Texas and 5 minutes from Downtown Austin. Brykerwoods Elementary is right in the neighborhood and nearby is Central Market, a foodie delight. Restaurants & shopping are within walking distance. The Shoal Creek Greenbelt with its hike and bike trails and parkland skims the edge of

Central Austin Real Estate Sales Update - 10/12/10 03:08 PM
September 2010 MLS home sales in Central Austin neighborhoods were a mixed bag. Overall, in the greater Austin metro area, home sales were down 33% compared to September 2009, but sales in West Austin and 78704 South Austin were basically unchanged. West Austin and South Austin 78704 home sales were flat compared to the previous September, but those neighborhoods have enjoyed sales increases for the full year-to-date according to Austin MLS. The number of homes sold in neighborhoods like Tarrytown, Clarksville, Pemberton and Brykerwoods is up 31% in 2010. In 78704, which includes Travis Heights, Zilker, Bouldin, South Congress and South Lamar, home sales

MOPAC Toll Lanes Discussed at TXDOT Open House - 10/08/10 12:13 PM
Last night, I attended the TXDot open houseat O'Henry Middle School to look over the plans for proposed toll lanes that would widen Mopac Expressway through West Austin. The toll lanes would run from Lady Bird Lake to Parmer Ln and essentially allow a fourth, limited access lane for the highway in each direction. I had several conversations with engineers and sound experts who say the plan is not final but is the best concept so far for relieving congestion in Austin. The entrance/exit points for the Mopac toll lanes are at the 5th/6th street area, 2222 and Parmer Ln. The plans call for actually

Austin AIA Homes Tour 2010 Continues on Sunday - 10/03/10 10:41 AM
The annual Austin AIA Homes Tour continues this weekend October 2nd and 3rd. 12 local architects have opened project homes to the public for an exclusive viewing. As a volunteer docent on Saturday at Hugh Randolph's Brykerwoods renovation and expansion, I enjoyed chatting with and meeting the many Austinites who appreciate great architecture. It's good to see so many folks come out to soak up the good feelings that come with a well designed space. The mild temperatures and bright sunshine added to the experience. People asked me all sorts of questions such as what kind of wood is on the deck and aren't they
