Divided Souderton Area School Board passes $104.4 million budget OUCH! - 05/31/11 09:33 AM
 
The Souderton Area School Board passed a $104.4 million budget for the 2011-12 school year with a 6-3 vote Thursday.
The budget includes a 4.87-mill real estate tax increase, which will mean a homeowner will pay $189 more on a house assessed at $150,000.
 
Student programs will also be cut and some class sizes would increase. They noted that all administrators agreed to either salary freezes or reductions in expected raises.

Some Good News On Montgomery County Home Prices - 05/31/11 09:00 AM
After almost two years of doom and gloom, there is some good news on housing in Montgomery County.
At least it is good news for sellers, according to county planning commission Staff.
The sales prices of homes sold in the county in 2010 reflected a 4.7-percent increase over sales prices in 2009.  
The median price for the 8,123 market-rate residential sales last year county was $265,000, a 4.7-percent increase over the 2009 median price of $253,000 for 8,847 sales of new and existing homes.
The 2010 median-sales price of the 5,029 single family home sales was $309,000, a 4-percent increase … (0 comments)

Mainland Road in Lower Salford will be closed and detoured 6:30 a.m. to 4 p.m. from May 27 until June 11 for road construction. The closure is between Old Forty Foot and Wambold roads and Freed and Clemmens roads. Old Forty Foot Road will be closed and detoured 24 hours between Rittenhouse and Mainland roads from May 27 to June 11 for road construction.

Souderton -Telford Postal carrier food drive brings in almost 5K LBS - 05/24/11 11:32 AM
The annual “Stamp Out Hunger” food drive was Saturday, May 14, but that didn't end the giving.This past Friday, they made one final delivery in the mail trucks.That brought the total to the Food pantry to 4,912 pounds.

Souderton pool opening delayed again to June 20 - 05/24/11 11:23 AM
Bad weather is pushing back the opening date for the Souderton Community Pool one more time, but borough staff are “very comfortable” with the new June 20 date. The delayed opening will not change membership fees, since the borough still needs to cover construction expenses.

Almac Pharma Dedicates Lower Salford Complex - 05/20/11 10:41 AM
 
The Almac Corporation has dedicated its new North American Headquarters at Fretz and Wambold Roads in Lower Salford Township. The company is closing a division in the Audubon section of Lower Providence Township.  Workers have been moved from there to the recently-finished 240,000-square-foot Lower Salford complex with two buildings.  The company also hired 300 new people.  It was under construction for about two years at a cost of about $120 million.  Almac is an Irish company that provides clinical trials, packaging, labeling and other services for Merck, Glaxo Smith-Kline and other pharmaceutical firms.
