December 4 thru 6 - 28^th Annual Olde Time Christmas Celebration in town full of history. During this season, the town of Jim Thorpe is transformed into an authentic Victorian Christmas village. At 6:00pm on Friday, Dec. 4, children and parents will gather to await Santa's arrival in the Josiah White Park adjacent to the Railroad Station.

Everyone will get in the holiday spirit with Christmas carols by Beyond Bach and the lighting of the town Christmas tree.

There will be a Live Nativity scene at Sam Miller Field on North Avenue on Friday and Saturday, with a shuttle bus from the Railroad Station to the Nativity.

There will also be train rides with Santa and horse-drawn carriage rides through the charming town each day.

Bear Season Opens

Last year's black bear harvest was the second highest on record, and weather permitting, the Pennsylvania Game Commission expects hunters to have similar opportunities afield in the upcoming bear seasons.

Pennsylvania's black bear population has numbered near 15,000 for almost a decade.

Pennsylvania's primary bear season is three days, statewide, just prior to Thanksgiving, Nov. 23-25. There also is a two-day archery bear season -- Nov. 18 and 19.

Removing Oil Stains From Concrete

I read that if you take drywall (the sheet rock part) and grind it into concrete where the stain is and then wipe the excess away it makes the stain disappear like oil dry, it works. I tried it in my shed and it does work.

So if you have client with oil stains in their garage you may want to give them this tip.

Lucky Turkey! President Obama Spares a Thanksgiving Bird from Dinner Table

Obama issued a presidential pardon to Courage, a 20-week-old, 45-pound turkey from Princeton, N.C .

The president, joined by daughters Sasha and Malia at his side, told a crowd of invited guests at the White House this morning that some presidents actually ate their turkeys.

On Monday, Nov. 30, the mountains and woodlots of Pennsylvania will be hosting more hunters at one time than at any other time of the year. As difficult as it is for some to believe, hunters are now, and will continue through the eve of the opener, purchasing their hunting licenses, one they might use only two or three days out of the entire year.

Most license buyers will be hunting bucks only, since the allocations for antlerless licenses are already sold out in most areas of the state.

Toyota Recalls 3.8 Million Vehicles

The recall targets gas pedals in 3.8 million Toyotas and Lexus vehicles.

The company says starting in January it will fix or replace pedals in selected 2004-2010 Toyota and Lexus models to prevent runaway acceleration first blamed on improperly installed.

The recall affects:

2007-2010 Toyota Camry

2004-2009 Toyota Prius

2005-2010 Toyota Avalon

2005-2010 Tacoma 2007-2010 Toyota Tundra

2007-2010 Lexus ES 350

2006-2010 Lexus IS 250 and IS 350

Besides reconfiguring the gas pedal, for the ES350, Camry and Avalon models involved, the shape of the floor surface underneath will also be reconfigured to increase the space between the accelerator pedal and the floor, the automaker said.

As an extra safety measure, Toyota will install a brake override system on the Camry, Avalon, and Lexus ES350, IS350 and IS250 models. This system cuts engine power in case of simultaneous application of both the accelerator and brake pedals.

The Stork Craft cribs recalled by Gov't 2.1 million cribs

Government safety regulators say more than 2.1 million dropside cribs by Stork Craft Manufacturing are being recalled, the biggest crib recall in U.S history.

The Consumer Product Safety Commission says the recall involves 1.2 million cribs in the United States and almost 1 million in Canada, where Stork Craft is based.

Nearly 150,000 of the cribs on recall carry the Fisher-Price logo.

The agency is aware of four deaths of young children who suffocated in the cribs, which have a side that moves up and down to allow parents to lift children from the cribs more easily.

Home sales rise to highest level in 2.5 years

October home sales rose 10.1 percent, beating expectations, as tax credit spurred sales.

Home sales surged for the second month in a row in October, climbing to the highest level in 2 1/2 years as first-time buyers rushed to take advantage of an expiring tax credit.

Home sales nationwide are now up nearly 36 percent from their bottom in January, data Monday showed, though they are still 16 percent below the peak in autumn 2005. At the current sales pace, there is only a 7-month supply of homes on the market and in some areas there are bidding wars.
