Pending Home Sales Are On the Rise - Up 8.0% From Last Year - 02/27/12 10:04 AM
The National Association of Realtors has reported that January 2012 pending home sales are up 2% from December, and a full 8.0% from January 2011.The report states “the January index is the highest since April 2010 when it reached 111.3 as buyers were rushing to take advantage of the home buyer tax credit.”This is good news for those looking to sell their homes - the market is improving. This week's photo of the week comes from WCSH6 - it's Rocky the Lobster! This extremely large lobster was caught in Boothbay Harbor, Maine (just over an hour northeast from Portland) and was eventually sent back to the Atlantic ocean. Amazingly, Rocky weighed in at over 27 pounds! Here he is pictured next to an average-sized lobster (roughly a pound and a half). One can only imagine what both are thinking in this photo. Certainly not something you see everyday!

The National Association of Realtors's quarterly report shows that conditions are balancing out and sales are on the rise, according to an article from realtytimes.com. According to Lawrence Yun, the NAR chief economists, the report is showing more sales at lower price points. He added that sales on higher-priced homes were 'sluggish'. The article stresses that real estate is about local trends however, and varies from place to place.
