Remember the Time Magazine article that explained buyers waiting for a price break in a property can be negated by even a slight increase in interest rates.

As we get closer to the official launch here in Maine, I am curious as to everyone's thoughts on them...

How long until we're all using them?

What do you see as the issues/problems arising?

How about the benefits to you and your team?

When will the next best thing come out, like blue tooth enabled lock boxes?

What will you do with your old Mechanical Lock Boxes?

I'd like to hear from you...whether you have already used the lockboxes in another area, or are about to use them for the first time here in Maine.

Anyone with personal experience already have any advice? Warning? Tricks?

Will this rate cut be enough?

You may already have heard from Fed Chairman Ben Bernanke that the Fed today cut the Federal Funds Rate and the Discount Rate. While they made the move in order to stimulate growth in the economy and prevent further deterioration in the financial markets, there is concern from Wall Street as to whether the 25 basis point cut was enough. Apparently, the Street was expecting more as we saw the market drop today.

The more and more I read, I wonder whether the Fed reacted soon enough (we had not seen cuts for four years until late and now they are back to back) and whether another cut is in store to boost economic activity and limit any potential recession.

Will this rate cut be enough to stimulate activity?

Clearly, home buyers and those looking to refinance need to understand that the wrong approach would be trying to time the market. Too many variables play a role (oil prices, unemployment rates) that sitting on the sidelines can cost you more long term. Remember, the saying, "It's not timing the market. It's time IN the market".

Mortgage Rates Fall to 26 Month Low

The 30-year fixed rate mortgage of 6 percent is now at the lowest level we have seen since September 2005. Mortgage rates have fallen in 7 of the last 8 weeks.

News from the Fed also appears to signal another interest rate cut at their December 11 meeting next week. Hopefully this will be the energy we need to avoid an economic slowdown and entice buyers to enter the market at a lower monthly payment and put their hard earned money to work for them in real estate.

Mortgage brokers must be excited to see a boost in the refinancing activity as well due to rates dipping once again.
